Breastfeeding before sleep and cavities?

Just wondering if anyone's doctor told them to not nurse their baby (with teeth) to sleep because it can cause cavities. Instead of bottle rot, this would be breast rot.

I was never told that, but have heard of others hearing that. I find this article from the ADA reassuring .

Breastfeeding NOT linked to cavities.

Just another example of Pediatricians being completely uniformed about BFing, IMO!

And this from Kelly Mom

Never heard of this and BF till 14 mos. I do however brush her teeth before bed. If it makes you feel better they lose those baby teeth anyway! Now she has molars so I do brush after she has milk!

I was never told not to nurse before bed but I remember the doctor's questionnaire asked if she nursed "throughout the night". We didn't so I don't know what discussion may have come but I figured it was related to teeth. DD saw the dentist at around 18 months and they said she looked great and based on their advice I switched brushing to after her milk but before that she had nursed or had a cup of milk after brushing.

I nursed DS for 25 months. He nursed throughout the night until 23 months. I was never told it could rot his teeth. I read up about it and didn't see a reason to be worried. His teeth are perfect at almost 3.
