GD - non stress test and weekly sonograms
Today I went for my 32 week appt and the dr told me they would be starting twice weekly non stress tests and once weekly sonograms to monitor the baby due to me having GD. I guess this is pretty standard? Any experience w this?

Re: GD - non stress test and weekly sonograms
I'm expecting twins, but I see my OB every two weeks (24-30 weeks), and beginning at 30 weeks I'll see her every week.
I'm 29 weeks, and the for the next appointment and thereafter will be stress tests - they hook you up to a heart-monitor (goes around your belly) and monitor the heart-beat of the baby for an extended period of time (one hour in my case.)
ETA:
I don't know about GD (sorry) but I would assume they're monitoring you and the baby's weight as well ensuring you and baby are progressing well and not aggravated by the GD in any way.

Re: GD - non stress test and weekly sonograms
I had GD with my DD in 2011 and this is common. They use the sono to measure the baby to ensure they are not putting on extra weight in the final weeks, measure your growth, fluid and stress.
Just think - you get lots of extra time to see you LO before they are born!

I know you are right, but for some reason it still stresses me out.
I think it's becoming more of a "norm" lately which is why I was hoping to see if more women were experiencing it!

Very common. I have GD and am on glyburide so I go 2x a week for bpp and a sono. It's annoying scheduling wise but nice when I get there and get to hear the heartbeat!

I have GD and I'll be 34 weeks on Thursday. I start weekly sonos this week. At 36 weeks I will start weekly office visits as well. I currently go every 2 weeks for a BP and blood sugar # check.
