Gestational Diabetes screening- please tell me about your lab
Reading some posts, it sounds like some labs or doctors offices are more flexible than others. I would love to take this test later in the day when I could get a sitter or just go in with my DD for the blood draw. Thanks for the info!
This is for the 1 hour test.
Where did you take your test?
Could it be done any time of day?
Could you take the drink at home and then go in for the blood draw?
If you had to take the drink at the lab, did you have to just sit there or could I take DD for a walk if necessary?
If you happen to have a doctor that let's you have a special breakfast instead of the orange drink, please FM me their info.

Sunrise Labs in Holbrook
Could it be done any time of day?
Yes u do not need a Appt. Just show up with the script the dr gave you.
Could you take the drink at home and then go in for the blood draw?
No they give you the drink when you get there then you have to hangout in the waiting room for a hour they take ur blood at the hour mark n you go home.
If you had to take the drink at the lab, did you have to just sit there or could I take DD for a walk if necessary?
Wasn't allowed to leave the building.

I had the lemon/lime drink (I prefer it over the orange. It taste like stall spirt in my opinion.

Any time they had an open appointment, yes.

No, the drink had to be taken in the office.

I didn't ask to leave...but they didn't chain me down or anything. I would imagine my dr would have let me.

No special breakfast, but they did offer me fruit punch instead of orange...which was actually pretty tasty!

Same here. Except you have to fast - i forget for how long. Your docs office or the lab will tell you.

Same here. Except you have to fast - i forget for how long. Your docs office or the lab will tell you.
Not everyone has to fast. I did not fast for any of my prior pregnancies.

Went to Quest.
Available during regular Quest hours.
Had to drink it there - they provided it.
Sat there for the hour but my understanding is you can't leave.
I had no choice but to do it at Quest b/c my doctor does not do it in office and Quest is the in network lab for my insurance.
ETA: I found the orange to be much much more tolerable than the lemon lime.

Could it be done any time of day? My dr. said it wasn't a fasting test, so I'm thinking yes if your dr. tells you the same.
Could you take the drink at home and then go in for the blood draw? No..every place I've heard of you stay for the hour.
If you had to take the drink at the lab, did you have to just sit there or could I take DD for a walk if necessary? I've never taken DD, but I can imagine it would be easier to bring things to entertain them in the office or just see if it's possible not to bring them.
