BTDT Moms and Chocolate lovers come in!

Hi ladies,
I was curious as to how much chocolate everyone eats (or ate) while pregnant? While I have gestational diabetes, I have learned that I can have one chocolate bar a day without any issues with my blood sugar (other things spike it more). I seriously CRAVE my chocolate fix - I have to talk myself out of having it after breakfast and save it for later in the day but lately I still just have this weird anxiety with it - like I am doing some harm to my baby with sugar and candy as opposed to having a bowl of broccoli or something. Anyway I guess I'm hoping there are some other moms/preggos out there who have a little indulgent snack during the day and that it has caused no harm? Specially chocolate really. Thanks for your input!

I have GD but I'm also almost 34w pregnant and have a major sweet tooth. Do I gorge on it? No. But I'll allow myself a handful of M&M's or a hershey kiss (or 5 lol). My doctor has been more than thrilled with my numbers and the baby looks great and is growing at a normal rate.

I didn't have GD but I ate it as much as I always did.
Not a TON, but I love it so I ate it a lot.
No harm was done to DD.
I never ate veges and didn't start when I was pregnant either.
She is healthy as a horse.

I do not go a day without chocolate! I love sweets and always have.

I had GD last pregnancy and I'm not sure if I have it now (I'm not even 10 weeks). Even with GD, I found ways to make it possible to satisfy all of my cravings and I don't think there is anything wrong with it.

I also wanted to mention this -

My doctor actually told me that I was following the GD diet too closely and that I should be a little more lenient with what I eat. That made me feel better! LOL.

But again, every person is different. If it doesn't affect your numbers too drastically, I say go right ahead and eat it!

I'm so glad you brought up the veggie thing bc I hate them! I've been trying to force myself but it's hard. I have a lot of salad but that's it really!

Thanks! I have a friend who thinks I'm crazy bc I still have my choc fix but I don't see what the big deal is if my numbers are good. This makes me feel better!

You don't HAVE to eat veggies. I ate exactly the same as I always did. I took prenatals so I knew baby waa getting the nutrients she needed...no need to gag down brocolli and stuff!
