Do they have all private rooms?

ETA: Any feedback on your experiences there? Good or bad? Thanks!

Thanks everyone. I'm in the process of finding a new OB because I don't want to deliver at the same hospital, this is really helpful. Chat Icon

I switched at 16 weeks so I can deliver at Stony Brook, I've heard all good things, and the private rooms sealed the deal for me.

Does anyone know when you typically do the hospital tour? I'm only 22 weeks right now.

Re: Stony brook hospital

I have tons of experience there - with my DS I had to be hospitalized at 30 weeks - I stayed there 5 weeks. I think I would have been crazy at any other hospital.

The rooms are wonderful - you almost feel like your in a hotel room. Room service with menus for meals - and the food was pretty good - and almost all the staff is wonderful. They even let me get outside for a few minutes to have a visit with my doggyChat Icon

Not sure about the tour - think you can sign up at any time - you just have to call

I switched with my second at 21 weeks because I wanted to deliver at Stony Brook. I loved my old OB doctors and the office and still miss it. I just didnot want to deliver at the hospital I delivered my older one at. I hated sharing a room and was not happy with a few other things. I don't regret my decision one bit. I was also thinking worst case senario to. I had placenta previa and was thinking possible C-section which wpuld have me staying more days.

I really like my new OB doctors. If you need suggestions on who to switch too, I have three offices I could reccomend .

Loved it!!! Great experience. DH stayed with me the whole time and bathroom was huge, you got a ton of good food for room service, and you can walk to the Starbucks down the hall :). Felt like a date weekend LOL

I'm definitely open to recommendations for OB's. I'm in the same boat as you in not wanting to deliver at the same place. It was a horrible experience all around and sharing a tiny room just made it that much worse!

Dr. Porte at Stony Brook GYN/OB. He is amazing. You will never feel rushed or confused with him.

This is the practice I go to. I like all the doctors.
Also recommend Three Village group and Dr. Reavis. My friends use these two groups and are very happy.

Re: Stony brook hospital

All private, big, clean rooms! Very quiet. Your own clean shower which after having a baby is the biggest plus!

Room service style menu & dining. I don't remember how the food was or if I even ate it though because every time someone came to visit they brought food.

ETA: Great experience there! The nurses were amazing. My one and only issue was that there were way too many medical students in and out of my room and I was having a hard recovery from an emergency c section and just wanted to get at least an hour of sleep but they came barging in. One of them was learning to take my temperature. NO JOKE. I finally said something to the head nurse and she put a note on my door that no one was allowed to enter before first checking with her. After that it was much better.

Re: Stony brook hospital

Love Dr. Reavis and I loved delivering at SB. I couldn't imagine having a roommate while both of you have newborns. How are you supposed rest and heal? DH stayed the entire time except to go home and shower. It was very nice.
