can anyone advise me on sesame place & surrounding area/things to do?

I'm a 1st time mom with a 15 month old. we're debating taking her on a mini vacation later this year...

what is a good age to do sesame place?

is there a particular time of year that you'd recommend?

are you familiar with the surrounding areas? like, if we went for a few days, is there anything else to do with a little one that you'd recommend?
and if so, what towns are best to stay in? (my in-laws have a timeshare that needs to be used, so I am going to have them look and see if there's anything nearby to sesame but I'm not familiar with the area AT ALL.

how long is the drive to sesame from long island?

thanks so much!

Sesame place is great for kids 18 months and 9 years IMO. My girls love sesame place so when we go we usually do 2 days. You will want to go during the week when it's hot. There is a lot of water rides. When we stayed last summer we also drove into Philly and did the please touch museum which was really fun. Langhorne itself is a nice/safe place to stay. There are a lot of hotels on the same road at SP they have free shuttles to the park. Last year we stayed at the crown plaza in trevose and that was much cheaper and only a 10 min ride to the park! I do suggest paying for VIP parking it's really worth it.

We did Sesame when my son was almost 15 months and had a great time. He LOVED the Elmo's World show and the characters. We didn't do much outside of the area, but having been there as a kid we did the Please Touch Museum (which was great when we went back in the 90's and I hear great things about it now). We did the drive in about 2 1/2-3 hours. We stayed at the Sheraton right across from Sesame.

ETA: We went around Halloween (actually two weeks before Sandy hit) and loved it. We didn't miss the water rides at all. It was nice and cool but not too cold.

We didn't really care for it.

Stay in philadelphia & try sesame as a day trip (or 2 days if a hit).

I really liked eating at bonefish grill near the park.

I'm following this thread bc we're considering taking DD there for her 3 rd birthday in June, and staying over and doing a day in Philly. We will also have a 3 month old DS by then.

What is the water park like? DD loves water! Are there little kid friendly water activities ?

Coming from Long Island, sesame is closer. But it's like further west and philly is a little further south, so it might take the same time to get to them. I live further from li and it takes me 3 hours to get home to my parents in western Suffolk if I don't hit traffic.

I live just outside philly, and we took my son to sesame for Christmas when he was 18 months. Honestly, I wouldn't go back for a while. I thought he was a bit to young for it and I can only imagine what a madhouse it will be in the summer. The dry area is like small carnival rides that are Elmo themed. He liked the shows, but waiting 30 minutes for a 2 min ride drove me nuts. I know they have a big water area in the summer so I can't speak to that, but I feel like a 3 year old would be better suited for it from what I saw.

The please touch museum is in philly, that my son loves. I mean loves, and the zoo is nice also, has a large petting zoo area for kids. You could also consider going to to lancaster and doing Dutch wonderland and those types of things,

My opinion, and it's just mine, is that 15 months is a bit young to plan a trip just for them. Wait until there two or so. Go where you want for now.
