Looking into possibly going with my parents. They are in their late 60's and often get tired. Wondering how far the epcot walk is.

I stayed at the Beach Club and the walk was not very long at all, maybe 5-10 mins. It's a bit longer from the Yacht Club depending on which building you get. The Boardwalk, I think, for the most part is farther than both of those. It's on the other side of the lake.

I vaguely remember there being benches along the route if they get really tired.

It's not bad at all. From the beach club its about 5 minutes, from the yacht club, about 7, and from the boardwalk, its about 10. The beach club ad yacht club it's flat until the entrance to Epcot where it slopes downhill (uphillo the way back). From the boardwalk there is a bridge you have to cross over so it's uphill, downhill, downhill on the way there and uphill, uphill, downhill on the way back.

They are very gentle slopes though so its not a strnuous walk at all.

From beach club, the walk is about 5 mins. But that brings you to the back part of epcot, international area.

We were on the villa side of the Boardwalk (further away) and we were at the entrance in about 8 minutes.

Boardwalk and Beach club are closest.

We can also stay at Disney Dolphin or Swan for free using Starwood points. Assuming that will add about 5 minutes since it is on the other side of Yacht Club.

Actually it will only add a few more minutes (3 or so) to the walk. It's closest to the boardwalk rather than the yacht club.

Does the boat take you to the main entrance of Epcot or does it also bring you to the World area?

The boats drop you at the International Gateway by world showcase.

It's not a long walk at all. But, it's a long walk if you are just trying to get to the monorail.

Can you estimate how long it would take to walk from the main monorail entrance to the international gateway boat entrance?

Trying to decide if this is manageable for my parents. I know that I get tired and I'm only 35yo. I think it would be too much walking for my parents.

15 minutes or so walking slowly? Disney is a ton of walking in itself. You could always rent the scooters for them!

it's probably 15 minutes or so to get from international gateway to the main front entrance. Keep in mind that if the goal is to take the monorail, there is then that giant ramp up to the monorail - at the end of the day I HATE that ramp!!!!Chat Icon

When we stayed at poly, we would transfer from MK to Epcot and then return back to our hotel via monorail. I can't for the life of me remember the ramp at Epcot although I can clearly remember the ramp at MK.

I am trying to calculate if it would be feasible to take a bus to MK in the morning and get back to our hotel by taking the monorail to EP and walking back to our hotel through epcot to the international entrance. Maybe we'd be better off not utilizing the Epcot monorail and just going to/from MK via bus.

The Epcot ramp is the worst! It's not bad arriving at Epcot, but the monorail back at the end of a long day of walking is no fun.

While it is feasible to get back to the resort from MK by monorail, it will actually probably be quicker to take the bus. Remember, you will also need park hopper passes since you would need admission into Epcot and you would waste time going through security lines too.

I agree. Take the bus back and forth then walk over to Epcot from your hotel if you are hopping there.

You don't have to deal with the monorail ramps and you have the added benefit of being able to stop at your resort in between.

Re: If you have stayed at Yacht Club or Boardwalk area, how is the walk to Epcot?

The walk from the Beach Club isn't bad. Last time I stayed we were in the building closest to Epcot so it was like a 5 minute walk.
Yacht Club is further away, could be about a 10 minute walk. They have benches along the way as well as swings on the beach to sit in if your parents need to rest.

If the goal is to get to the monorail though...
That is a much longer walk with ramps and "hills" along the way. You could take the boat to Epcot and then just have the walk to the monorail but the previous posters aren't kidding when they say the monorail ramp can be rough. Especially at the end of the day and if you or your traveling party have trouble walking.

The buses are a viable option for getting to the Magic Kingdom. Renting a scooter from an outside company is also an affordable way to make the walking at Disney a "non issue".

My mom had difficulty walking and we found that renting a scooter made the whole trip much more enjoyable for her.
I can help you with that even if you book your hotel with points on your own.
