If you fail the 3 hour you have gestational diabetes. You will need to change your diet, and check your blood sugar, and possibly be put on insulin regulation.

I was diagnosed at 13w (tested early due to diabetes in the family).

I was given an appointment w/ the nutritionist at my practice and a Rx for testing supplies.

The nutritionist gave me a guideline of what to eat (protein paired with carbs). Then a nurse came in and showed me how to test my blood sugar (super easy and not painful or scary like it sounds). I was also given a log to keep track of the time I drew blood and my numbers - fasting and then 2 hours after each meal.

At every dr. appointment, I bring my log in and the dr. reviews it to see how i'm doing. He put me on Metformin to control my fasting numbers when I was 29w. I have not needed insulin (so far!).

Once you get the hang of everything, it's not terrible.

I failed one of the four draws for the two hour and now I get to test my blood 4 times a day. It is not hard or terrible. I find out tues how I am doing. I hope to keep it under control with just diet. Good luck!
