Congenital Heart Defects
Does anyone have experience with CHD, particularly, sub aortic stenosis?
My level 2 sonogram showed an abnormality with my baby's heart, so today I had a fetal echocardiogram and they saw that there is a obtrusion below the aortic valve, which is causing a narrowing below the aortic valve.
For now, I am going to be monitored to see if it gets more narrow and the baby will be monitored when he's born. It seems like a wait and see for now.
She said he might need surgery or he might just need to be monitored by a cardiologist.
Just looking to see if anyone has experience with this. Thank you!

Congenital Heart Defects
It's not the same but my DD has a CHD concerning the leaflets in her aorta. I always forget the technical name but essentially she was born with 2 leaflets instead of 3, and the concern is the direction of her blood flow.
I also had a fetal echocardiogram, and then after she was born she had to see a pediatric cardiologist. It was monitored every few months, the first year. Eventually by age 2, I was told that it looked like she would be just fine and no surgery would be necessary right now. It will be monitored her entire life, and when she get older they might consider surgery but it's impossible to tell the future.
According to my doc, many CHDs, tend to just require monitoring. It's scary to hear about it before the baby is born, I know how that feeling can be! I hope your baby doesn't require anything more than a few appts the first year, and then just yearly appts after that like mine. Try not to freak too much about it, because it will only stress you out. The only thing you can do is wait. Good luck!

I know all I can do is wait...Trying not to stress too much. Just want to read up to educate myself more about it.

Re: Congenital Heart Defects
I actually have congenital sub aortic stenosis! I'm 32 and have never needed surgery, although I may one day. Please feel free to ask me any questions at all! It's not very common.
