Stretch Marks
They're already started. I knew I was getting them no matter how much cocoa butter I used b/c my whole family is covered in them from their pregnancies.. but they are appearing much earlier than I expected.
When did everyone first start noticing them? My friends are all saying not until sometime in the 3rd trimester, but their kids are a few years older so it's not as fresh in their mind.

Stretch marks are genetic so when you get them and if you get them is personal to you and how you are genetically made up.

This-- I am approaching 32 weeks and I do not have any stretch marks yet- my mom has a few from her pregnancies and my sister has a lot of them from her first pregnancy- my sister did not start to get stretchmarks until the very end of the third trimester (36 or 37 weeks).

I know they're genetics- which is why I KNEW I was going to get them, but I have never heard of someone getting them so early- so I'm terrified of what my stomach is going to look like by the end.
Someone I work with just told me that they got them early though- around 20-22 weeks but they never really got worse, which is what I'm hoping the case is with me.

Re: Stretch Marks
I only have a few on my sides, like the area you would call love handles except I never really had love handles. They showed up sometime in my 2nd tri, but were white then. Mid 3rd tri they turned into more defined, purple stretch marks. Nothing on my belly, which I'm very surprised about.

This makes me feel much better!!! That's where mine currently are. It's an awful feeling bc I KNOW my body is supposed to change.. but I have always been very confident and am having a hard time with these changes-- and the stretch marks actually made me cry.

Re: Stretch Marks
My mom claims that she did not get them during her first and second pregnancies.
My sister got stretch marks between week 39-41.
I think it is genetic, but speed of weight gain must also be a factor. My mom carried tiny for her first two pregnancies - not so much for the other three.

Don't worry - you are not alone! I was having a very difficult time accepting body changes as well. I would say within the last week (24-25), I have grown more confident with my bump - probably because it actually looks like a pregnancy bump!

Doesn't help that one of my lovely kids ( I teach 12th grade) comes in this morning- after not seeing me for a month bc he missed the whole week before and after Christmas break, just bc he's lazy, not bc vacation or illness and says "Look at you looking all pregnant and fat all the sudden". Which the last time I saw him was 18 weeks and now I'm 22, so there's definitely been a bit of a change in those 4 weeks, but he didn't need to point it out! He must have forgot the quarter is ending this week and I'm working on his grades lol.

Stretch Marks
Crashing...
Stretch marks suck. I remember getting them pretty early on, too. Right on the love handles. Then toward the end of the pregnancy they started showing up on my belly too, and thighs. I cried. I cried for months AFTER dd was born. They were purple and angry and horrible looking. I thought they'd never go away. But dd is now 18 months old and while they are still there and I doubt they'll ever completely go away - they are much much less visible and more flesh colored now.

Stretch Marks
Just about 32w and the only stretch marks I have are the ones that were there already. They're all faded though. If I get more, I get more. I'm not concerned.
"A mark for every breath you took, every blink, every sleepy yawn. One for every time you sucked your thumb, waved hello, closed your eyes and slept in the most perfect darkness. One for every dream you dreamed within me. It isn't very pretty anymore, some may even think it's ugly. That's okay. It was your home. It's where I first grew to love you. Where I lay my hand as I dreamed about you were and who you would be. It held you until my arms could, and for that, I will always find something beautiful in it."

Re: Stretch Marks
I noticed in my third trimester and some I didn't notice till after I had the baby. I don't have any on front of belly. All mine are on my hips and under my boobs.
They look really bad after you have the baby. They are a red/ purplish color and look awful but eventually they fade and are not so bad anymore.

Stretch Marks
My sister and mom didn't get any so it makes me mad about this whole genetics thing lol. The day I turned 31 weeks I got them, and cried a few times. After ds was born and I lost the weight they are almost not visible. If I spread my skin flat on my stomach you can see them but not at first glance. Really scared this second time around. Although something I was not expecting I don't like more- when I bend over or lay to one side, you can tell my stomach muscle is a little loose in the center of my belly and hangs a little. Not noticeable when standing up. Never even thought about that one! Its way worse than the marks!

When you look at genetics, you need to take into consideration both sides of your family. So that's why I think one sister might get them and the other one doesn't.
