Formula Feeding

A few questions about feedings.....

1. How old is your LO?
2. How many ounces do they drink/how often?
3. How long does it take them to finish?

My DD is 7 weeks. She eats every 3-4 hours but is not consistent in how much she takes- can be anywhere from 1.75oz-3.5oz. Usually about 2.5-3oz. She takes anywhere from 25 minutes-50 minutes to finish. Does that seem long?

Nope sounds about right but every baby is different. At that age sometimes it took upwards of 2 hours for her to finish a bottle

Re: Formula Feeding

My DS is a tank Chat Icon he's almost 8 weeks and he eats five 5-6 oz bottles a day! he takes around 30 mins on average to finish, sometimes longer, sometimes faster. I've been paranoid about over feeding him and turning him into a little butterball, but that's the amount that satisfies him. I let him lead the way and so it looks like he's doing well
so far.

Re: Formula Feeding

My DS is 12 weeks. He gets 4-5 bottles a day, usually he takes 6 oz, sometimes a little less. It generally takes him 20-30 minutes to finish.

If it's taking a long time to finish sometimes that's a sign that it's time to move up to the next nipple flow size.

Re: Formula Feeding

At that point ds was taking 4 oz every 3 hours and longer stretches at night. It would take awhile to feed as it was very hard to burp him.
