Do you bring your booster seat on the plane for the child to sit in? How does this work? How can you carry such a bulky seat plus, your child and a carry on on a plane? How is it possible?

If it's FAA approved, your child can sit in it on the plane. If not, you have to check it. It should say on the side. Booster seats aren't FAA approved, but I assume you mean a convertible seat since the child is 2. As far as lugging it along, loop the straps through the handle of the carry on.
