For those who have already picked names...
What name(s) did you decide on for you little one(s). Is there any significance to the name you picked (family name, etc.) or is it simply the name you like best? I am curious because my grandmother was shocked that I choose the name I did and she keeps asking if I am naming the baby for anyone (although she knows this isn't the case). I suspect she thought we might pick a name to honor her parents.
DH and I have decided to name our daughter Francesca Victoria.

For those who have already picked names...
I always knew if it was a boy he'd be named Kevin John after my late FIL, it was never a discussion. Any subsequent children's names likely won't have such significance.

Re: For those who have already picked names...
We named my DD a less common, old fahsioned girls name just because we liked it...we get asked if she is named after anyone all the time.
We are naming DS after my DH. So that will be obvious to people. My FIL has said he wanted the baby to be named after him, but that's not happening as he has an old super Italian name.
That's a beautiful name you picked!

For those who have already picked names...
We always wanted all our children to have their own first name, not named after anyone. We always knew we wanted Irish names too. We decided that we would give each of our children a middle name that had familial significance. Our first son is Kieran James (James is my late father's name and my FIL'S middle name). Our second son is Declan Thomas (Thomas is a huge name for both our families- great grandfathers, great uncles, uncles). We have a boy and girl named picked out for this baby (we are Team Green) and they both follow that pattern.

Sydney (for my grandfather) and Delaney for DH father. Both are no longer with us. Still trying to figure out middle names which will be for our grandmothers. We are using B & P. very hard!

We are naming our daughter Ava Danielle. Absolutely no meaning behind it- I just love the name Ava (even though its really popular) and have wanted to use it for years if we had a girl. We thought Danielle went nicely as a middle name.

For those who have already picked names...
We haven't decided on a name but we do have a list of about 5 names that we've narrowed it down to. None have any special meaning at all and are just names we liked that flowed together. I personally do not like using family names.

The names on our list have no significance - we just like how they sound.

Re: For those who have already picked names...
Our son's name is my grandfathers name, DH's grandfathers name. It also happens to be DH, my dad and my brothers middle name so YES it is a family name. We had trouble picking a boys name and ultimately both loved the family name and went with it. Ironically what held us back was that it was "common" but I have met one or two kids with the same name in 2 yrs, the name was common when we were kids but now it isn't.
If we have a girl this time we are naming her Sienna Paige, my DH and I met at Siena College, so again there is significance.
No clue what to do if its a boy

Re: For those who have already picked names...
We are naming our baby girl Emily Kathleen. Her first name has no significance. It's just one of those names I've always loved, and didn't care how popular it has become bc it's what I wanted my daughter to be called. For her middle name...I named her after my mother who passed just 2 months before I finally got pregnant with this little peanut. No matter what first name we picked, her middle name would have always been my moms name.

Re: For those who have already picked names...
Our DS middle name is his fathers name.
We had so much trouble picking a first name we liked (Sam) so that has no history behind it.

For those who have already picked names...
We picked Dds name bc it was a name we liked. We picked her middle name after a deceased relative. I have some family members that don't agree with what they did - they think the first name should have been after the deceased relative We plan on doing the same for #2

Our little girl will be Avery Rose. I just fell in love with the name. It so happens that SIL will be the god mother and they will have the same middle name. I love Avery because it can be for a boy or girl.

Re: For those who have already picked names...
We're team green but if we have a DD, her first name will be my mothers name/grandmothers name/my middle name, and her middle name is my MIL's name.
If we have a DS, his first name will be a name we love (no family significance) but his middle name will be my DH's first name/my grandfather's name/my father's name.

Re: For those who have already picked names...
We will be naming our son after my father in law who just passed away this Christmas on Christmas day and we will be using my fathers name as the middle name to honor both grandparents....I was so against using it as a first name because it is also my husbands name but after he died I just knew he had to have that name

Re: For those who have already picked names...
our son is Christian Matthew... early on, DH and I had heard the first name and decided with both really liked it. we didn't pick his middle name until days before he as born and again, it was really just a matter of going through name combinations until we found one we liked.
the funny part: Christian means "follower of Christ", Matthew means "gift from god" and our last name means "the best" in Italian so we say that's he's "the best gift from god"... but we never realized this until after we named him (and even stranger, we're not nearly as religious as his name would lead you to believe!)

Re: For those who have already picked names...
DS1 is Giovanni Christopher, first name us just a name we liked. Middle name is the same middle name as DH. They also have the same initials, we did do this since we weren't naming him a junior. DS2 will be Angelo Carmine, both just names we like, although he will have the same middle (and obviously last) initial as DH and DS1.
