Baby Carrier
Do any of you BTDT moms use your baby carrier?
I registered for the Ergobaby Original baby carrier and I see that it was purchased.
(It is this one http://www.target.com/p/ergobaby-original-collection-baby-carrier-black-camel/-/A-13938275?registryId=_6OsJOycYu2OFUcMVTlQhg®Title=Michael%20:%20Gina%27s&itemLineNum=37&reqQty=0&preSelFlag=1)
I am now second guessing it. I'm not sure how often I would use it, if at all. I always joke to my husband that he would wear it and the baby when he's born, but I know he wouldn't want to.
I feel like if we were out we would always have the baby in the stroller or car seat, or one of us would hold him.
I didn't realize how expensive it was ($115!) and I feel like I can use that money towards something we did not receive and would better use (like a video monitor).
What do you think?

Obviously you know I'm not a mom yet so cant speak from personal experience but I will say I think it depends on the couple. Many of my friends use them often when going on hikes and walking places where a stroller would be a huge pain. I think if you would only be doing stroller friendly things its probably unnecessary and can money better spent on other stuff.

I joke with Mike that he can only go to the beer festivals now if he brings the baby in the carrier
The only thing we really do that I would think we would need one is going to the Islanders games. But we know so many people and have so many friends at the games that if we got tired of holding him, someone else would happily take him.

I never thought I would be one to babywear but after seeing friends do it and how much they and their babies love it and how convenient it is to have your hands free, I cannot wait to babywear! I have a Moby wrap already and I am planning on getting the Ergo.

Re: Baby Carrier
I love love the Ergo and used it a lot. I used it more when DD was a little bigger. I loved being able to wear her on my back and it was great for the supermarket and doing things outside. I def recommend it and think its worth keeping.

I'm also afraid it will not fit me very well. I'm plus sized and large chested.

Re: Baby Carrier
I wore DD a lot! Especially while grocery shopping, before she was old enough to sit in the stroller. Also, she loved being held/worn so wearing her allowed me to still get stuff done. I even vacuumed while wearing her and took dome strolls w/ my dog.
Now that I'll have a 2.5 year old when DS is born, I'm sure I'll wear him even more.
You could always exchange it for a less expensive wrap/carrier and use the balance toward something you need. D

The Moby wrap might be good. You should check YouTube and see women using the different carriers & wraps to see what you think you'll like best.

You can always try it on and see how you like it/how it fits. I'm PS also and have big boobs but I checked out the measurements of the carrier and think I will be fine.

Def get one. If you want buy a used one. There are a ton of people selling ergos for $20. Ask around. Go to a kid kloset consignment sale.
Check our the buy/sell/swap groups. Post on parenting and ask if people are selling one. I guarantee you someone is....

Well the brand new one was already bought on my registry. My shower is on Sunday. Maybe I will open it very carefully and see if it fits (I'll try it on my husband for laughs as well). I can always exchange it for a cheaper one or buy a used one for cheap to justify the cost.

Yes its expensive but it is made super well and made to last. I used mine for close to 2 years with DD and will now use it again with this baby and its hardly shown any wear so having a $100 baby carrier didn't bother me because figuring out how much i used it and will use it is def worth it.
Also, my babysitter is PS and she had no problem wearing DD when she was little.
I will say that compared to others the Ergo is super comfy to wear and by getting a cheaper baby carrier you might not like using it and then it will be a total waste for you.

Baby Carrier
My son is almost two and I still wear him in the carrier. It is literally the single best piece of baby equipment I own. The stroller gets annoying, and it's not really good for them to be in the infant carseat all of the time, with the carriers you have your hands free, so they can sleep and you can still do things. Like grocery shop before they are old enough to sit in the car, it's not really safe to click the infant seat on the cart even though lots of people do. It can cause the cart to tip over and it can damage the mechanism that attaches to the base.

I've never been there, but I got a coupon in the mail so I've been meaning to check it out.
I'll receive mine on Sunday so I'll just try it out.

thanks for your reply. I did a lot of research on them and the ergobaby seemed to be the best, so that's why I picked it. I'm just not sure I will use it too much.
I'm thinking I will keep it and if I don't wind up using it too much, I know about 8 other girls that are pregnant so maybe one of them will want it!

You might be surprised by how much use you will get out of it. Being able to wear them on your back when they get bigger really came in handy especially for things you wanted to do outdoors but didn't want to have to use your stroller.
