Maternity leave and outside options
I started at a new company August 1, 2013. Because I will be going out on maternity leave before my 1 year anniversary with the company my paid time off is terrible, 2 weeks on STD and 1 week of bonding. I can add my PTO (9 days) but after that everything is unpaid.
Does anyone know of any outside sources that could help me while I'm out of work? I know there is something I can apply for with the state of NY for $170/week but... Anything else?

Maternity leave and outside options
Are you using FMLA? Aflac and other short term options will probably exclude you because there is a waiting period - you can't get it while you are currently pregnant. $170/week is just about it, and its either 6 weeks for a vag birth or 8 weeks for a C. Anything beyond that is unpaid. It sucks, there really are no other options and US maternity leave is horrendous. I had to go back at 6 weeks.
