Flu shot?
Who here got the flu shot and how far along were you when you got it?
Im debating getting it for myself (my children always get it) although never have in the past.
I thought I had read that there is benefit to the baby, if you get the flu shot while pregnant? Is this correct and is the benefit at only certain points in your pregnancy?
I was sick the last few days (fever, chills, aches, upset stomach) and thought how awful it would be if it had been the flu....
Generally, I have a very strong immune system but I work in a school and am surrounded by children and for whatever reason- for immune system is not as strong while pregnant and/or nursing...
TIA

Flu shot?
I have never gotten it before, and I was always very anti flu shot. BUT I did get it this year.. At 16 weeks the doctor tried to convince me and I didn't.. Then my husband ended up getting a crazy rare virus that was really contagious and I wasn't allowed near him bc it was so dangerous to the baby- n it kind of opened my eyes to how silly I'm being about the flu shot.. I also work in a school and unfortunately these kids come in loaded with germs and I have no choice but to be in the room with them so I got it at my 20 week appointment.

Re: Flu shot?
I got the flu shot at 12 weeks.
The benefits are HUGE. The flu can be very harmful to you and your baby. Best to get it - especially since one of this year's flu strains have already been deadly!

Flu shot?
I am anti flu shot, but my OB convinced me to get it as getting the flu can be very dangerous. I was very apprehensive and very anti, but still got it. I was 15w5d
I have to say I am kinda glad I got it as EVERYONE are sick. Tho my feelings of gladness are more of feeling protected than seeing an actual benefit...

I would ask you Ob. It takes 2 weeks to actually build up immunity against the flu so I would think better to get sooner rather than later. I would also try to get my DH to get it as well.

Re: Flu shot?
I got mine at 17 weeks, although i was going to at 13 weeks, but i forgot to get it before i left.
For some reason i thought you should get it after the 1st trimester, but i'm not 100% sure on that.
my OB told me the benefits of getting it outweigh the risks of getting the flu while pregnant - that can be dangerous.

Flu shot?
I was pregnant last year and the flu was really bad so I wanted it. I was out of my first trimester though and I had the mercury, preservative free one

My OB gave it to me at 7 weeks. I had never had the flu shot before but she strongly recommended it because of how dangerous the flu is while pregnant. She said there was no reason to wait, the sooner the better and gave me it right at that appointment.
