Personal touches for 1st birthday

What special touches did you do for dcs first birthday? I'm a big etsy fan and started to get some ideas

Special bday hat
Bday banner with newborn to 12 months pics
Photo montage DVD

Anything else you did to make personal touches?

Edit. What about favors? Do I need them? If you did them what did you do? Something small...

Re: Personal touches for 1st birthday

I took one of DS's pics from his 1 yr photoshoot and put it in one of those poster signing board frames. Just put an 8x10 picture and got some sharpies for people to sign it that I tied to ribbon. DS1 is 4 and I still have it in his room. Chat Icon

I think everything else is perfect. Just take lots of pics of the room before family comes and of course pics when your LO eats the cake. Did you get a special cake?

Oh I love the signing board thing! Thanks! Def using that idea. The place has easels we can use too.

Dd is only 6 months, but I'm a planner. Lol. I will want a special cake though. Not sure of what though.

I went with a theme that was personal to DD and then we did matching banners and posters plus balloons, themed desserts and themed favors and themed activities.

Yes! We did a theme too. For DS1 we did "construction" since DH is a contractor. It was in the summer so I used orange cones and lots of "personal signs" with his name on it. Big sign saying "Parking for Birthday Boy only" in front of the garage and other stuff. We did a big construction cake too with lots of trucks on it and gave out personalized shovels and pails filled with construction stickers, crayons and construction coloring books.
For DS2 it was also summer and we did a Luau theme and a pool party. Did a collage of pics of him around on a poster board. Gave out leis when guests came in and had Hawaii music playing. I think we gave out towels for this one or that may have been his 2nd bday. Chat Icon

Personal touches for 1st birthday

I got some matching banners and cup cake toppers on esty. I also made a banner with pics from her cake smash, hung lots of inexpensive decorations like paper lanterns. I also did mason jars with a one candle inside, then filled with m&ms and tied ribbon around it. There are tons of ideas on pinterest. I didn't do a true theme, just picked a dress I loved for DD and matched everything to those colors (pale pink, dark pink, and navy blue). For favors I did pretzels dipped in caramel and chocolate.

Re: Personal touches for 1st birthday

OK - it was a first "bee" day theme.

Here are the CPs, placecard table CP, and misc banners (the TY banner I used as a photo prop for her pro pics, and then again for above the gift table).

Re: Personal touches for 1st birthday

I did a chalkboard with his stats, likes, etc. I basically just saw how it was done on etsy and made one myself (saved me a ton of money).

FIL got a cardboard cutout of DS so I displayed that at the party lol. Otherwise it was just the chalkboard, and for decorations balloons, I tried to have somewhat of a sesame street/cookie monster theme so the balloons were sesame street and the favors i had my friend make cookie monster chocolate lolipops which came out great!

Re: Personal touches for 1st birthday

My Dd is a June baby. We had a "pink lemonade" 1st birthday theme. Since it was in my back yard, we rented tents and my dad actually built a lemonade stand. I used this for drinks (we had lemon water and pink lemonade in 2 huge drink dispensers), and then later as the candy buffet. I got all pink and yellow candy. This was the favor... Guests could fill bags if they wished to take the candy home. (I had goodie bags for the little kids who don't eat candy).

Other than that, I got a personalized birthday hat (matching the color scheme) and a personalized onesie/tutu outfit, all from Etsy. We also did a first birthday banner from Etsy.

Re: Personal touches for 1st birthday

My first DS was a monkey theme. I had banana stands with bananas and balloons as the centerpiece. I had DS in a monkey costume when everyone was coming in. I can't remember what the favor was.
My younger DS was a winter one-derland theme. I used his monthly signs as the table numbers, everything was a blue and white theme (tissue snowflakes made by me, full dessert bar in blue and white), I made cocoa cones as the favor with a personalized label.

We did a whole album for guests to sign. We tried to get as many pics of DS and the guests in the album so they could sign by their picture. We also left blank spaces designated for the wishes. DS loves looking at "his album" every once in a while.

Personal touches for 1st birthday

I made a book of her 1st year in photos for people to view.
Did the banner thing too.
Had a special cake made to match her theme.
Had the chalkboard with her likes and stats as above poster showed.
It was a theme party so all the decor was kind of personalized like "isabellas sweet shoppe"
Big welcome sign when guests entered
Had a big candy table (this was the favor for everyone including adults)
Had favors just for the kids

I think you should give favors to the kids. Every single party i have been to always has a favor for the kids. Not the adults unless they have a candy table. Otherwise always for the kids.

You can make it theme related or wrap it so its theme related.
