For other third timers... gift registry questions

My youngest will be 5 when the baby is born and my oldest will be 6. My infant car seat expired last month and we thought we were done having kids so I donated most of my baby items.

Yes, my sister is organizing a mini shower... A sprinkle. I'm officially over the "tacky" possibility as my DH got seriously injured in a car accident last month and long story... anyway, just wondering if you did a registry for
your baby that was not your first, what did you register for. Obviously, an infant car seat is #1 on my list. I know I won't be breastfeeding so I am going to also add the Baby Breeza I think it's called, basically a formula kurig. I have no idea what the must haves are now. However, I want to try to stay with necessities as a lot of junk won't help when there are things we really need and won't be able to fulfill on our own, I am projecting the worst but probably best to do so. We are only inviting very close friends and family to the celebration. In the end likely under 10 people.

Re: For other third timers... gift registry questions

Like you mentioned, i would go with an infant car seat and also register extra bases so you can have one in each car (provided you have more than car, or one for a care provider's car).

I would also register for a convertible carseat for when the baby is about a year old.

Do you still have your stroller? I would register for one if not. Some come in a combo. with the infant car seat, so that could be an option. You could also register for snap and go which is so handy when they are in the infant seat.

Also, new bottles, nipples, etc. i would register for diapers and formula, too! and also, perhaps some of those things that you really do need, but don't think to register for like nasal aspirator, thermometer, etc.

i also really liked having a bassinet in for the first few months, but of course you could just put baby in the crib right away or use a pack and play if you have one. i found the pack play an essential, especially if we went away anywhere or if ineeded to put baby down somewhere safe for a few minutes. i would register for one if you don't still have one from your other kids.

Also, since you really just need the necessities: diapers, wipes, formula!!!

i am on my third pregnancy with TWINS! (i have a 4 year old and 2 year old) so a lot of the things i have are still in good shape and/or people are giving me things like another swing, bouncy seat, etc. so i am just registering for things like more crib sheets, another mattress and mattress pad, bottles and nipples, more burp clothes, diapers, wipes, formula.

good luck to you and i hope DH gets well soon!

Re: For other third timers... gift registry questions

Well my MIL already informed me if I have a girl she is throwing me a sprinkle. I worry I'm being greedy by having one, but if it's just small I don't think it's a big deal. We threw my sister a very small one when she had her third. At someone's house with probably 12 people. She wasn't expecting to have a third and most of her stuff was shot. Plus she had a boy after two girls. I think it was cute and not tacky. As long as it stays small.

Now I may register as I need a few things. Most oft stuff is 5 years old and gone through two kids. But I did buy a few things after having DS#2.
Things I need
A new infant car seat
A swing
New snap and go
Bottles
Pacifiers
New burp clothes
Bibs
Clothes( especially if I have a girl)
Bottle drying rack
If it's a girl some girly recieving blankets. Aden and Anais are the best. Highly recommend.

Things you may need also
A bouncer seat
Baby carrier ( I got the Ergo with DS#2 and really like it)
Rock and play sleeper ( another thing I got with DS #2 and love so so much) it made him sleep like a dream)
A play mat
Nail clippers
Baby tub
Towels
Wash cloths
Stroller if yours are in bad shape
Diapers

This is all the basics I can think of for now. I'm sure you might have some if this stuff.

For other third timers... gift registry questions

This baby is #3 for me also- my oldest will be almost 9 and my youngest 5- so its been awhile and I have nothing (well- I got a new swing, new breast pump and a snap and go with #2- and still have those)

Its already been said that Im having a shower, I am registering for pretty much everything- whatever isn't given as a gift, I will purchase myself or try and get out a buy/sell/swap board...

Ill register for:

an infant car seat
Stroller (prob a travel system will take care of 1 & 2)
Video/monitor
bottles
high chair
bath tub
rock and play (although a friend has offered to give me hers when she's done- so I may not need this)
bouncer/vibrating chair
play mat
baby carrier (I have a sling already- so Im not sure I need both)
bottle warmer
excersaucer
On the fence about whether or not I really need a pack-n-play (I never used it with my kids- except if we were going somewhere overnight)
and some basics (burp clothes, receiving blankets, diapers etc...)
