Going back to work...
...Im going back to work on Wednesday. Ive been anxious about it for the past few weeks but try not to think about it. Today I woke up in almost a cold sweat from thinking about it. Im dreading the feeling I am going to have Wednesday walking out the door and hope I don't get sick! What did you do to calm yourself?

Going back to work...
I was a wreck when I went back to work, and the first day I dropped him at my moms, I actually put his Burt's Bees lotion on so I could smell him LOL in reality though it wasn't nearly as tough as I'd imagined and I enjoyed being back at work. DS thrives at my moms house, has a ball playing with his cousin, and that alone makes it easy. I also have flexible work hours and work fairly close to home that I honestly don't feel like I'm away from him for too long. It will get easier, and there might even be days you look forward to work! Just take it day by day and know it's worse on us than them

Going back to work...
I only work part time and i cried for the first few weeks im not gonna lie. But it got so much easier when i saw the bond she was creating with her grandmothers (mom and mil help me) and i saw how much fun she had as well. I also started to look forward some days to getting a break. Having time to myself. Be around adults. Be able to go on the conputer in peace. Or eat in peace and even go to the bathroom in peace lol and it feels good to get dressed up for work. And even just the work itself i do. Its nice to use my brain in that way. Its nice for a few hours i get to put myself first.
Do i still miss my dd some days absolutely! And sometimes i still cry. Especially when i call and i hear her talking or laughing. But i only work 3 days and have flexible hours as well. I get to work from home some days.

Going back to work...
I honestly can't do it. I went back two weeks ago for 2 days a week and I've decided to stay home. I was kidding myself these past 3 months that id like going back. I love being home and if after a year we can't do it financially I'll go back. I just can't do it and for the first time since getting pregnant I am honest with myself and to my husband. Good luck. I hope it goes well and you can get over the hump.

Re: Going back to work...
The anticipation of going back is worse than the reality. If you trust who is going to be home with your LO then it will just become your new "normal".
Personally, we can't afford for either of us to stay home, and I'm just not a SAHM-type. I was laid off before DS was born and missed working. I'm a much better mommy to DS because I work.

Going back to work...
No SAHM here no way... we couldn't afford it even if I wanted to.
I took the week before going back to put AJ in daycare, visited her every day but tried to keep myself busy and only saw her at pick up and drop off that last thurs/Friday.
For me, I told myself...Millions of women go back to work everyday, they survive, millions more have already made that journey and I work with tons of them. They have photos on their desk, some make silly phone calls, others talk about nonsense for hours.. but they still kick butt at work. I knew I could it, I had to do it. I was going to prove to myself and her that my job is a good job, it makes me happy and I love her more than the world and my job gives us both the chance to be happy.
I didn't shed a tear that first day but MAN did a few folks get me close to it. I put her aside in my mind (not away, just aside) and kept her photo close and kept myself VERY busy that first day. I made time to think of her, I made time to call the daycare twice that first day. Then I made myself stretch those times out until I was just 'mom who works'. I rushed home everyday and didn't get home until late. Hubby picked her up but also picked me up so I could spend time with her in the car from the station home to chit chat and play with her toes.
We always rode in the back with her, often fighting on who got to play with her. Every moment of time with her we cherished. I held her often and never once worried it was 'too much'. She was with us when we cooked, ate and even slept. We didn't follow the rules about bed time and she slept at night late so we had more time with her.
Fast forward 5yrs. I have a great job due to some chances I took and staying in the industry and not giving up. I have been able to buy her a home she can grow up in. I have taken her to Disney twice and have enjoyed many other things with her because we can. Its been worth it. She's well adjusted and enjoys school. She got sick that first year or so but has been rock solid since. She is a great kid in a great school and I think daycare and me working had a lot to do with that.

Re: Going back to work...
Just think that you get to be YOU and have an identity outside of just motherhood and enjoy adult conversations! I was fine with returning to work because I am multifaceted and missed a lot of other parts of my life and identity.
