Stomach Virus?
My nephew was here on New Year's Eve and was sick all night throwing up. My SIL and BIL blamed me for it for giving him too much junk food (all of which I asked the parents before giving him!). Fast forward to last night, and DD1 (who is 2 1/2) was throwing up all night. Obviously my nephew had a stomach virus that DD1 got. I have an 8 month old DD - if she were to start violently throwing up in the middle of the night, would I need to take her to a doctor? I am worried that she will get sick, since it is obviously contagious, and DD1 never stops kissing DD2! Both my nephew and DD1 were throwing up nonstop for 5-6 hours, and then were fine (just tired).TIA!

Re: Stomach Virus?
My DD had a stomach virus at that age and we didn't take her to the dr. We had called and they said just watch out for dehydration, etc There really isn't much they can do for them with a stomach bug- has to run it's course. Just watch for dehydration. She said as long as she was having wet diapers we were ok.

Thanks. That's what I figured, but I thought that they might want to do an IV for a baby that young.

Stomach Virus?
This stomach bug is highly contagious we had it in my house and it spread to ILs and my mom. It lives for 2 weeks on hard surfaces. Bleach is really the only thing that will kill it.
It's a bad 24 hrs then slowly start to feel better. My stomach was off for almost 2 weeks.

Re: Stomach Virus?
I had a stomach virus a couple of weeks ago. We went to a friend's son's bday party and the next day I was sick. Not fun, but I'd say it was about 24 hours. Thank goodness my boys didn't get it, but friends of ours that was also at the party got it. The entire family got it. Figured it was someone from the party.
Hopefully it's only a day. Pediatyle and just comfy as possible.
That stinks and I'd be more upset about your SIL and BIL blaming you. They are the parents and should supervise what their LO eats.
ETA - CLEAN EVERYTHING! I kept spraying Lysol, washed sheets, etc.

Re: Stomach Virus?
DH and I both have it right now. Awful. So far the girls have not gotten it but I'm so nervous since dd2 is only 7 weeks! We were also at a NyE party and got it there- our friends thought they had food poisoning over a week ago! Looks like we need to deep clean this place!

Only if she shows signs of dehydration- crying with no tears, no wet diapers, etc If she gets it- hopefully she won't!- she watch out for that.

Stomach Virus?
They will only give an IV if she goes more than 12 hrs without a wet diaper. Get some pedialyte to have just in case.
My DS 1 had a bad stomach virus at 12 weeks (right after his first day of daycare) that lasted 10 days and DS 2 had one at 2 weeks old (DS brought it home and it swept through our house. The Dr did want to see them to make sure 100% it was a stomach bug but, didn't do anything other than what I told you.
