what's your 6 mo's schedule?
Just had dd's 6 mo appt yesterday and dr said we could do 3 meals a day and drop formula. Not sure dd is ready for that.
What is your schedule?

You know my theory on schedules. I would just do 3 meals and bottle in between. Let them naturally drop a bottle.

Ahh yes. The non-schedule schedule. Today is the first day I'm attempting 3 meals and I feel like I'm constantly either giving her a bottle, solids, mixed in with naps and play. I just always thought the formula was more important than the meals at this age.

I always gave a bottle at wake and then meals around normal times. Bottles were 6-8 oz so you really don't need that many.
One wake and before bed so you really only need 2 more.

3 meals seems like a lot for a 6 month old. i wouldn't force it since formula is still more important at 6 months old. I don't think we went to 3 meals a day until closer to 9 months. 6 months DS was just figuring out what to do with food, so we were on 1 meal.

I do my own thing..I try food if she likes i continue. I bottle feed when she is hungry. I find i waste s lot if shes not into it. My baby is 6.5 months & takes 4 oz BM bottles still..abt 6/7 of thrm in a 24 hr time frame ...oatmeal cereal / yogurt after morn nap. If she is fussy or sucking down a bottle i offer again around dinner time (veggies /oatmeal) . I go w flow...some days due does not eat solids in pm.

Here too. 6 mos. seems awfully young. Maybe get a second meal in, but formula is still important at this age.

Thanks all. I was really questioning the three meals thing and such a low amount of formula. I'm going to keep doing what I was originally doing.

This. My 6 month old DS barely eats one meal a day, but still nurses like crazy. His dr. said this is fine.

what's your 6 mo's schedule?
i was just looking to see what other people were saying. my DD just turned 6 months and was sleeping 7-9 hrs at night but they started only sleeping 4 hours. got her back to 9 hours with this:
5 am bottle 6 oz 8 1 tablespoon cereal 8:45 bottle 11//1130 1 tablespoon cereal and 1 oz veggie 11:45 bottle 3 bottle usually only 3 oz so she eats dinner 5 1 tablespoon cereal and 1 oz veggie 6-8 pm another bottle 8-10 a little more milk.
i nurse her but then she falls asleep so she doesn't get enough milk so i've been pumping and giving her a bottle. she goes to daycare so i don't have them give her dinner that's why i go with a smaller bottle around 3. she dictates what i do. i'm not going to have her screaming because she's hungry and not feed her b/c its to early.
my mother had told me to give her the veggies at lunch b/c too much at dinner might upset her stomach but yesterday i happened to give her it split at lunch and dinner and she slept.
my doctors says i'm giving her 3 meals but i'm not giving her a lot of food.

Re: what's your 6 mo's schedule?
My son is four months so it's a little different but doc just started him on food... this is his schedule. Disclaimer: he's a BIG eater and a bottomless pit
7:15am - 8 oz formula mixed with 2 tablespoons of oatmeal cereal.
10:15am - 7-8 oz. of formula
When he finishes that bottle I'll usually give him half a jar or stage one apple - Doc suggested start with that for a week to make sure there's no allergy, then switch to bananas, then pear, and then start on veggies. Doc warned about starting on veggies first because it may make him gassy (he tends to be a little gassy anyway). He's on Similac Sensitive for gas.
1:15pm - 7-8 oz. formula
4:15pm - 7-8 oz. formula
After that bottle I give him another half a jar of stage one apple.
7:15pm - 7-8 oz. with two tablespoons of oatmeal cereal.
Bed by 7:45pm the latest usually and then he sleeps until 7-7:15 the next morning.
I'm looking at everyone else's schedules and I'm intrigued at how much it changes from what he's doing now (at 4 months) vs. what babies are doing at 6 months! Wow! Interesting to see!
