Question on joint birthday party
DS#1 and DS#2's birthdays are just one day apart. I just booked a bouncy house party and plan to do a joint party. I plan to invite both preschool classes as well as some family friends.
Would you do one invitation stating it is a joint bday party or make 2 separate individual invitations for the preschool classes?
If you were invited to a joint party but only knew one kid, would you feel obligated to buy a gift for both kids?
I have been invited to joint parties before with just one invitation stating that it was a joint party. If I knew both kids, I got gifts for both kids. For one classmate, it was a 4th and 7th joint bday party and I had never met the older child so I just brought the 4yo classmate a gift.

Question on joint birthday party
I just experienced this in Oct. My DD classmate invited her to a party for her AND her 4 yr old sister ..I was unsure what to fo so I got something small for the lil sister. If I didn't it eould have been ok i was not sure if they were going to open gifts together. I would do separate invites if its not inconvenient

Re: Question on joint birthday party
A few years ago, my older son was invited to a 2nd bday party for his classmate. It was also a joint party for the child's 6 year old sister. They did separate invites, so no one was even aware that it was a joint party until that day. I thought that was a great way to handle it, so no one felt obligated to bring a gift for a child they didn't know.
