Organic Milk

Am I the only one who thinks it smells and tastes bad? I am not a milk lover by any means but it smells so sour to me. My 1 yr old daughter doesn't seem to like it much either. May go back to regular milk which she seems to like. Good idea bad idea???

Lactaid isn't organic but it doesn't have the hormones and crap. I'm sure there are some non organic brands don't have it either.

I hate the smell of anything dairy but I don't notice a sour smell at all from our organic milk.

What kind do you buy?

We only buy organic milk and we have never encountered any kind of odd smell or taste. I wouldn't go back to non-organic milk…organic dairy isn't something to compromise on if possible. Switch brands and see what happens. If you don't like milk to begin with, out might just be you. I never really drank milk before I was pregnant and always though milk tasted off because I wasn't used to it.

We only drink organic and no weird smells or tastes here...we all find it super yummy...maybe you got a bad carton of milk

We only do organic milk and haven't ever noticed it smelling bad normally. However, I have noticed that it seems to go bad more quickly than non-organic milk. Maybe that's what you're experiencing?

I've never noticed that before. I doubt it is because it is organic. Try another brand and a fresh carton and see what happens.

Maybe just try different brands and try different places? It's possible the store isn't taking good care of keeping the milk and organic milk can just go bad faster since its has less stuff done to it

Personally, I don't like the way organic milk tastes. I am not a huge milk fan to begin with, but when I do drink it I prefer the taste of regular. DS seems to like the organic milk, and we prefer he drink that, so I buy a gallon of 2% organic, and a 1/2 gallon of 1% regular for DH & myself. I have never noticed it smelling sour, I just don't like the taste of it.

I hate the taste of all organic dairy...milk and yogurt...Stonyfield Farms yogurt makes me literally gag.

Not sour necessarily, but I don't like the taste. I was buying it for my kids until they told me they don't like it either. Now I just buy regular milk.

I thought the same thing with the Stonyfield milk, but only that brand. I even had DH try it once to be sure it was ok, but he told me he loved the way it tasted. I've never noticed a smell with any other brand. I usually buy Nature's Promise now.

I accidentally bought Ultra Pasteurized milk this week for DD, and I did notice a different in the flavor, but I haven't noticed it in other organic milks. I read online that ultra pasteurized milk can have a different flavor, so it made sense.

No it's every carton all different brands and stores lol. It's not just me - even my mother thinks it smells gross. Maybe we are just used to the non smell of reg milk?

Are you comparing 1% (or other low fat) and whole organic?
For that there is a definite difference.
Otherwise, I can't tell a difference, but I like whole milk.
