Just from the other end:
When I got married, the FG and her mom came with me to look at dresses. She tried on quite a few, and I picked "my" top two favorites...then we decided as a trio which one.
In all honesty, I noted which ones she liked the most. I absolutely loved her dress and would have picked the same two anyway; however, I couldn't imagine asking a barely 6 year old to wear something that she absolutely hated. It was a special day, and I wanted her to feel beautiful too! . That is how I felt too. I had two flower girls and it was a special day for them. I took both their moms with me and the girls tried on a bunch of dresses and we narrowed it down to three dresses and I let the oldest fg (5) at the time pick the one she liked the best. I know there is anything I can do about the dress choice now. I told the bride I didn't think a high collar would be comfortable in the summer but she told me she thinks the material is light. Oh well it's one night.

When I got married I picked it out for my niece. My SIL said whateva I wanted she was good with. My SIL doesn't have the best taste so I personally didn't ask for her stamp of approval. I did not pay for it but I paid for everything else. Shoes and accessories.
