If you delivered at Stony Brook recently...

If you delivered at Stony Brook recently what do they supply for you and what do they let you bring home?

Do I need to pack towels/washcloths for myself?

Can I still bring home diapers, formula, etc? What kind of formula are they using now? Is there anything else that I absolutely need? What about WiFi?

If you delivered at Stony Brook recently...

I personally hated my post-partum stay at Stony Brook. It was awful. The nurses were not helpful and I had to constantly ask for chucks and pads. When I was moved into my room, all they gave me was pads and witch hazel. I had to ask for a peri bottle, dermaplat and extra pads and chucks the entire time.

DS was in the NICU and I only had him in my room one night, so we didn't really get to horde anything. I took all the receiving blankets and diapers that were in the bassinet. They were using Enfamil Newborn, but they did not give me any to take home.

I brought loose lounge pants, comfy socks/slippers, tanks and cardigans, and ALL toiletries (they give none), but they did have towels. They never gave me any mesh underwear, so I wore my own. They have free wifi but it expires every 24 hours so you just have to keep re-registering.

Thanks so much for your reply! I loved my first post-partum stay at Stony Brook. I'm sorry that you had a bad experience! I do have to ask though... what are chucks?

I had a great experience at stony brook. I took extra pads, diapers, blankets (to bring for my dog to get dd scent, cream for my sore boobies.

They will not give you formula to take home anymore. I had the same nurse two days. In a row who was awesome and she told me it was bc in case it's recalled.

I had one nurse who was not very helpful, everyone else was great.

I love Stony Brook. Was just there for the 3rd time. They gave me pads, tucks, demoplast, peri bottle and also wee wee pads (that's not really what they are, but that's what they remind me of). For the baby I brought home diapers, comb, Vaseline, nose sucker, pacifiers and I think that's it. I nurse so I don't know about the formula. I brought my own towels, but they do have them there. HTH.

I had a great experience their as well. I nurse so I don't know about formula either. I brought home some diapers, chucks, receiving blanket, pacifier, nose sucker, dermplast ( whatever that's called) and peri bottle. I also took A&D ointment and gauze for my sons circumsicion. I think that's it.

I some what have to agree this delievery was so different then my first there back in 09 they gave me everything then. This time 3/13 I had to ask for everything it was like pulling teeth I was nursing so no formula but nothing even in the bassinett which the first time around it was stocked I had to ask for so many things. Also this time around you are so much more hands on unless you call for the nurses. The baby stays with you 24 hours a day which was fine by me but they forgot to call my pediatrician to come check my child so a few things I was not happy about luckly it was my second so I knew what to expect.

I love stonybrook although I had been in And out the hospital with mutilple stays due to many complications my stay wasn't bad. I got plenty of supplies, chucks, peri bottle, towels, wash clothes, soap, toothbrush, and toothpaste. Anything I ask for I got with no issues. My babies were in the NICU and was sent home with tons of supplies. And the beautiful private rooms are the best.
