Huntington Hospital
Hello I am having a c section at Huntington. Can someone please share their experience, specifically if you had a c? I have never shared a room before but they dont have free private rooms right? What is it like to share after a C? With my prior C the nurses had to help me walk to the bathroom. Do you have privacy at all?
Thanks!

I loved my experience at HH. Although I had a vaginal delivery. I also lucked out and never had a roommate. Perk of a small hospital! Of course, never guaranteed. Nurses were all great except for one pp nurse who I will never forget.

I also loved my experience there. I had a vaginal birth as well. All the private rooms were taken but I ended up in a double room without a roommate for 3 nights (I delivered at 11:37pm so that night didn't count). It was great, dh had his own full bed and stayed with me the first 2 nights. It's such a small hospital so odds are good you won't have a roommate, but of course not gtd.

Re: Huntington Hospital
I also loved my experience there with dd1 (3.5 years ago). I had a c/s. Got there in the morning around 5 or 6 and dd1 was delivered by 830. The maternity ward wasnt that crowded so they gave most people their own room. On the last night they put someone else into my room. By then I was able to get up and go to the bathroom on my own. The first morning after the c/s the nurse (who i refer to as my angel) walked me to the bathroom. If you do have a roommate they close the curtains so you have privacy. Theres a bathroom in the room and walking to the showers wasnt that big of a deal. I never had to wait for a shower.
The week following my c/s i had to be readmitted to the hospital and stayed again in the maternity ward in a private room this time. I had my own shower.

Re: Huntington Hospital
I had two c/s at HH 4.5 and 1.5 yrs ago. I think people's experience with rooms and roommates is complete luck of the draw. First time for me, the ward was crowded so I had a roommate the entire time. It was unpleasant- though she was nice enough, she complained a lot and snored really loudly and I had a hard time sleeping. She also kept the temp way hot and I was sweating the whole time. (Window bed has the controls). My second time, I had my own room for part of the time and roommates other times. They were fine and quiet so I really didn't mind.
Overall, to me it isn't worth paying for a private room. You may get one depending on how crowded it is. Privacy was fine to me since there is a curtain and the staff was sensitive to the issue in my experience.

Re: Huntington Hospital
Thank you all! I am going to try BF'ing, just ordered a pump so that is also adding to my stress. My last Section I had terrible pains and the nurse was telling to to release gas. Can't imagine doing this in front on another patient and her DH and possibly extended family. Lol

Re: Huntington Hospital
I just had a c-section there in Oct. I was lucky and did not have a roommate the whole time. My experience was great though there were one or two nurses that I thought weren't that nice. Not mean exactly, but just not that warm and fuzzy.

I had a C at Huntington 1.5 yr ago. Did not have a roommate which was great. Loved the nurses there and was there for 5 days!!! Great experience. Hope I have the same experience next time.

Re: Huntington Hospital
I didn't have a C but I did deliver at Huntington a few years back and will deliver there again any day now (due Monday). I had a good experience--everyone was great. They try to give you your own room at least one of the nights. If not busy, you could end up with your own room the whole time. I had my own room my first day/night. Then they gave me a roommate. She had a C. You can also pay for a private room. You tell them upon admitting and it's first come, first serve.
