getting referred to Madonna Perinatal
I am high risk with 3 blood clotting mutations. I have been with my ob practice for many years. They used to have a high risk doc who went on to Madonna. That doctor delivered my first child via c section and oversaw my first and second pregnancies. My second child was delivered by another doctor via c section.
Long story short, I feel very uncomfortable at this practice at this point. One doctor completely forgot to mention that I had needed a sono at 12 weeks and then I was running around at 13 to get it and they had to send me to the hospital since they don't do them in their other office anymore. There was huge discrepancy as to when my next sono should be. Hospital said 17 weeks because they freaked about my risk, my ob practice said 18 weeks. I had an emergency on Monday and had to cancel my sono and the hospital reception went on and on about how the appointment was scheduled too early in the first place. Anyway, due to the emergency I had experienced I was told by another hospital to follow up with my ob/gyn so I did today. I had a family member drive me. My doctor was not exactly pleasant and kind of seemed like I was an inconvenience and had no business being there. I had previously asked another Dr in the practice for a referral to Madonna. The doctor told me how I don't want to use them. Not sure if there is bad blood or what. I would like to find out from others what my options are to become a patient at Madonna and what your experience has been. You can fm me. I feel really odd changing doctor's entirely at this point so if not the Dr I know at Madonna I will suck it up the next few months with the current practice. Such a shame. I referred SO many people to that office, I'm very disappointed about how I was treated. I get it's Xmas eve but I am a patient of theirs. All would have been fine with a little compassion. Is this just typical when it's the 3rd pregnancy? Like I should know when my sonos are and know better than to follow up as I was instructed to do because I wasn't in labor? My youngest is 4. I do not remember much at all about the sono or testing times. I appreciate insight as to Madonna.

Madonna is just for all screenings and a dr oversees it..they will keep you on schedule but are not an ob...if you feel you are getting poor care all around, you could switch obs and a new one might use madonna...mine does and I'm not high risk

Re: getting referred to Madonna Perinatal
Madonna told me the Dr I want does deliveries. So if they don't oversee the pregnancy how can they deliver? Just wondering how it works. I'm not willing to go to someone I never met half way through the pregnancy knowing I need surgery to deliver. If I can't use the Madonna doc I will just stick it out and pray the next few months are drama free so I can just stick to the minimum amount of contact with this office.

I went to Madonna due to clots. The dr I saw does not deliver and in not sure any do. I just went there for weekly testing and the dr monitored my issues that made me high risk. I still saw my OB and my OB delivered

No advice on Madonna, but do not suck it up. You still have more than half of your pregnancy to go. Get out and find a new dr.

I personally have not worked with a dr. at Madonna who delivers..perhaps there is something I missed or don't know, but I would agree with AP...if you are not happy with your care from your OB, find another...

The drs are perinatologists and they do not deliver. They work with your ob to monitor your pregnancy if you are high risk.

The doctors at Madonna do deliver. I'm 100% sure. What people are unaware of is there is a private practice next door that these dr's practice from that is connected to Madonna. It's a separate phone number. The dr's are Bergman, Kline, Goldstein (and maybe another). Goldstein was my high risk dr with DD #1. He did not act as my OB (I had an OB already ) so therefore I only used Madonna for tests and High risk consults. For this pregnancy I had to switch OBs Bc of insurance and I did use the private practice of Madonna for the start of my pregnancy however I am not using them anymore.

Re: getting referred to Madonna Perinatal
i have went to madonna for 1st pregnancy, and now this one
my OB sends all his patients to madonna for the routine "big" sonos... 12w/20w & the genetic testing. if all comes back okay, after 20w you continue with just the regular OB
i delivered my son 5 weeks early so this time around i am seeing both a high risk doctor at madonna and my regular OB. i have nothing but great things to say about the brightwaters location. all the staff is nice & caring & even though i've only met with my high risk doctor once, i really like him!

Re: getting referred to Madonna Perinatal
I had some sonos at Madonna including a few level II's (kept not being able to see something). My OB was having Madonna do all the sonos, but when I was about 30 weeks, they started sending everyone to Winthrop perintal instead. I have no idea why. I was not impressed with Madonna though. The sono tech didn't seem to know much, like I asked if I should get the sono while I had a low grade fever and she had no clue that ultrasound heats the tissues. They also told me something they couldn't see (end of spine) they would just check at 35 weeks. Winthrop told me no way, it's much harder to see that later on.

Ha! I always say Dr. Bergman is like the Wizard of Oz to me. I've never seen the guy once but I certainly get bills from him.
I've only gone to Madonna (in Brightwaters) for the big tests/sonos since my dr likes them to do it. No problems with them at all
