Do you use Purell...

on your DC? I'll put it on my hands first and then what extra is left I will put on Roman's hands and wave them until dry. My mother freaked out on me telling me I was poisoning my son. Yet she thinks it's okay for him to be in the sun without sunscreen because "he needs some color."Chat Icon

Nope. I figure her hands go in her mouth so no chemicals.

I use a Bath and Body works anti-bacterial foam made especially for children. But not on my baby, just on my toddler.

Re: Do you use Purell...

I dont because Im afraid of him eating his hands with it on it but I do know that they make a product similar to purell for kids- I dont know if the ingredients are any different, and Im sure that reg purell is not harmful but Im over paranoid.

I don't and never have because I always worried about her putting her hands in her mouth with that on them. The smell is just so strong to me.

my mother told me she read somewhere that schools are now removing anti-bacterial soap and sanitizers from buildings as some study came out saying exposure to some bacteria is actually "good". don't know if this is true, just hearing it through the grape vine... Chat Icon

My mom is an RN - she is anti bacterial soap for that reason. You need some bacteria to build immunity to it. Using anti bacterial soaps can lead to super bacteria that your body or antibiotics can't fight.

Nope, I ate dirt and whatnot as a kid and I have a real strong immune system. I want the same for Jack.
(gosh, that sounds horrible but I hope someone knows what I mean)

I did cover his shopping cart with a cover.

Re: Do you use Purell...

No purell as I cannot imagine it would be good for her to eat and she spends the day with her hands stuck in her mouth at the moment.

My mom is also a firm believer in NOT over sanitising kids,....she thinks that is why so many kids get sick nowadays as their home enviroments are so sterile etc that their bodies cannot cope when they do meet up with some bacteria.

I think in this case mom might be right!

we have this, this is what I use in a pinch. But most of the time just a hand washing will do.

Re: Do you use Purell...

I actually don't even use it on myself. I hate the way it leaves my hands. It makes me feel like the dirt is still there, just moved around, even if the bacteria is killed.

I prefer a baby wipe if I'm out with Emily and her hands need to be cleaned -- and I always prefer a real hand washing for me but baby wipes in a pinch.

Re: Do you use Purell...

I never used it when he was little. But I have used it once or twice now that he is a bit older - mostly after we left a petting zoo. I used wipes and then the Purell. I read it wasn't good for children so I always stayed away.
