Flu Shot----
Hi Girls….question…
When i was preggo with my 1st…I found out in January…i guess it was to late then to get the flu shot…
I am not 3 months and my dr wants me to get the FLU shot…..
Any of my preggo girls get the flu shot during their pregnancy…..?
Dont know what to do!

It's the only time I get a flu shot. I normally don't get it at all nor anyone in my family but baby is due in Feb. and don't want to chance it that the baby will get the flu.

i did with DD and i already did with this pregnancy
my ob gave it to me - i think it was a preservative free version (not 100% certain) but info on that is conflicting - some say you can get the normal kind

I've never got it before but I got it since baby is due in Jan and I heard that by getting it it's like the baby getting it and with older dd in kindergarten and always bringing germs home I figured it was smart.

I got the flu shot back in October. The benefits definitely outweigh the risks. I would get it ASAP since it takes two weeks to be effective.

yes - i also got it with DS 1. I had the stomach bug when pg, no way would i want to experience the flu when pg! Plus your baby will have the benefit of the flu shot as well.

Pregnancy #1 I was due in may, but I got the flu shot bc I was pregnant throughout the entire flu season. This time I'm due in march and got the flu shot back in October. I've gotten a flu shot every year for the last 10 year with no side effects and never got the flu. I get the preservative free shot while pregnant. (CVS had it this year).

i got the mercury free one... i never get it otherwise and asked if i could avoid it while pregnant, but after my ob told me that if i do get the flu me or my baby could possibly die... after hearing that it was a no brainer for me!

I got it- I had the preservative free version of the shot. The flu is one virus that could potentially effect the baby.

i just got it yesterday. i have a nasty sinus infection and can't imagine the flu while being preggo. Dr said it was beneficial for the baby as well.
End of flu season is February and starts in November.
Just a side note but my dr (regular physician) also recommends pneumonia shot along with tetinis shot as well

Just got it last night. I never got it ever in my adult life until my first pregnancy. I did a ton of research on the pros and cons and ultimately determined that he risk of contracting the flu while pregnant was FAR more dangerous than the risk of any adverse affects from the shot itself. I have gotten it every year since then, mostly for the protection of my boys. Particularly during pregnancy, it's not a risk worth taking to me to not get it.

I got the flu shot in the hospital where I work. I made sure to tell them I was pregnant. I am now 28 weeks 4 days. I was originally worried that the shot itself would harm the baby but that was just me. My OB & the nurses recommended it.

I never had the flu shot before but my OB strongly recommended it to me because I was pregnant. She did it for me when I was 7 weeks. I have not had any problems so far and like the other ladies said the flu can be life threatening for baby.

I got the flu shot from my obgyn specialist. I was told that there was a special flu shot for pregnant woman (as Kim said without preservatives). The flu can be especially dangerous to woman who a pregnant. I also work with children so for me I knew it was a must for me.

I got it too! In November. I'm a teacher, and I really didn't want to take the risk. I got the flu + bronchitis at the same time in 2007 and it was awful. I had to take two rounds of steroids, had 2 chest x-rays, the doctors couldn't figure out why my bronchitis wasn't getting better... lung function down to 20-30%... then they tested me for the flu and said I had a really bad case and finally figured out why I wasn't getting better.
