Sewing machine recommendations
Can anyone recommend a good basic sewing machine? I've been looking online and there are so many choices - all of them have positive and negative reviews. I had a sewing machine years ago but haven't used one since. I had to make my DS's Christmas pageant costume by hand - it was not the first and I'm sure won't be the last I'll have to make and I am not doing it by hand again. I will also use it for basic things like hems and alterations. I'd like to try more difficult things once I have some skills (making a quilt maybe?) If anyone can recommend a brand and model # for my to consider I would appreciate it. TIA.

Sewing machine recommendations
I have a brother project runway model. Got it at walmart for about $100. It is a good basic model to start out with. I took it with me for classes and the shop said it was a good machine. It has lasted me a few years and I can do a multitude of things with it, including some basic quilting.

Thanks! I was looking at a couple of the Project Runway models (CS-8800 and CS5055PRW) and they seemed like good options. Do you know which model you have? Anything you don't like about it?

I would have to say this is the closest to what I have. I have had mine for about 5 years now, so this is probably a slightly newer version.
