School moms - repost from other board

When are you sending in teacher and bus driver gifts for the holidays? I was thinking tomorrow or Thursday. I'm the class mom so since I also collected for the class gift I want to make sure the parents know they received the gifts.

Thoughts?

The last day before break id Friday and its only a half day. That's also when the class party is.

Can I ask a side question to this since this is my first time with a child in school?

At the beginning of the school year, the class Mom collected $15 from each family to put towards gifts for the teacher throughout the school year (her birthday, Xmas, end of year gift, etc). Is it customary to still get a little something on our own for the teacher for Christmas, or do people generally not do that?

Not sure if its customary. DS is only in preK. I'm still new to this, but he's in a small class of only 5 kids and we were sent home a note we can only ask $5 a teacher. I'm doing something separate on my own just bc I really love the teachers. They go above and beyond. Not going crazy but a little something extra special from DS. The teachers appreciate anything.

I am an educator, and I have to say that I am grateful for any acknowledgements (it is shocking how many deeds go unthanked and unnoticed on a daily basis) - though a heartfelt thank you or letter or homemade craft is really and truly just as appreciated as a gift.

If you do decide to go the gift route, I'd say to give it Wednesday or Thursday. Teachers are just as eager as the kids to clear out on the last day, and the less schlepping to the car, the better!

I am a class mom and we collect money for the following:
craft projects (thanksgiving, winter holiday, valentines day, spring craft)
spirit week (last week of school - t-shirt for every kid)
teacher appreciation week
end of year class gift
spring fling (school auction)

This year my son's teacher left the week before Thanksgiving to have a baby and she will not be back for the rest of the year. I gave her a present and the class gave a gift. I also plan on getting a starbucks gift card for the new teacher later this week. I will say it is from the class but I am the one paying for it.

I gave the driver his gift yesterday because I didn't want to forget and he was the last person I needed to give.
M had her party yesterday. I organized the collection and gave the teachers the cards yesterday.
D has her party today and I know the class mom. They are giving it to her today.
L has his tomorrow.

I can't believe they have half day on Friday.
