Not child related but need advice for my furry little one

My 10 year old cat has been meowing like crazy & she's losing weight even though she licking every morsel of food around.
Started about 6 months ago & has been getting really bad.
I thought possibly thyroid but we took her to the vet & he said it might be a tumor.
After a blood test they said they couldn't tell so she would need a sonogram.
That visit was $450 & the sonogram will be
$315 but then what?
We can't afford any kind of operation so I hate to spend $ on the sono & we have to put her to sleep anyway (I hate even saying thatChat Icon )
Is there a low cost place I can get another opinion?
Or has anyone had this experience with a cat? I thought I could just try giving her something first (don't know what but maybe something for thyroid & see if it helps?

You may want to post on the pet board.

North Shore Animal League has a low cost vet. Also, there is a low cost vet on Conklin St in Farmingdale, I can't think of the name right now though.

Hope you kitty is ok!

you may ask to see if they can put you on a payment plan. We typically charge the vet bills and try to pay them off over the year which ends up costing us almost twice as much but the credit card is used for emergencies such as emergency vet visits. I once spent $800 on surgery/meds for my turtle who died three years later. We spent 1-2K on two different cats at two different times. Just kinda is normal for a pet.
