Motrin is a little stronger. It also reduces inflammation where Tylenol does not.

Exactly. Also, motrin lasts 6 hours while tylenol only lasts 4. Once DD was old enough for motrin I rarely used tylenol any more bc the motrin seemed to help her much more.

I only use Tylenol when DCs have a fever - when I rotate with Motrin.

They are totally different medications. They work differently and have different side effects. You should be extremely careful with tylenol/acetaminophen b/c overdosing is easy and is very serious- can cause liver failure. Advil/motrin doesn't have this effect, which is why you can alternate them.

This. Also, Tylenol is just a pain reliever/fever reducer. Motrin (Advil, Ibuprofen) is also an anti inflammatory...which is why it's better for certain things than Tylenol. For example, dental pain is usually caused by inflammation...Motrin is way better to take than Tylenol in this case.

I know for myself at least, Tylenol doesn't do shit.
Motrin is much better because it's anti inflammatory- it's an NSAID

Advil/Motrin, which is ibuprofen, can cause ulcers though. For children, it's a much smaller dose than adults, obviously, but this is definitely a potential side effect if given too much ibuprofen. I can't take it b/c of that.
