Recommend your SUV that is great for carseats plus more...
I need a new car. We currently only have 1, and it's a very tight fit with the carseat. The front passenger seat has to be all the way forward, and the stroller takes up most of the trunk.
I love SUVs. I don't need luxury, I just want something that drives well, is decent on gas, can fit a carseat without impacting the other seats, can fit a stroller plus more in the trunk and will be comfortable to drive with DH, the baby, me, the dog, the stroller and anything else we need to throw in there. I don't want a third row of seats.
Thanks!

When i got PG I traded in my MINI Cooper and leased a Chrysler 200. It was a great car. We had DS in both the infant and convertible in the back and could still fit 2 adults in the back and neither front seat position was impacted by the car seat. I was good on gas and the trunk was HUGE. Could fit my city Mini and all my groceries or luggage.
I just ended that lease and leased a Jeep Compass. I absolutely love it so far. Drive nice is super comfy. Plenty of room with the car seat in there and the trunk area is HUGE for a small SUV.
Both are around 24-26 sicker price. And this time of year you can get great deals since its slow for buying cars.

Re: Recommend your SUV that is great for carseats plus more...
we have a jeep grand Cherokee and love it. I just traded in my Acura MDX and by FAR love this car over the MDX. It is a bit shorter on trunk space and does not have a 3rd row but the MDX's 3rd row was laughable anyway!
We have an infant seat and highback booster in the car and have no issues! I can even fit between the seats in the back (and I am not a slim person ;) )
ETA - gas is OK. I am happy since its better than the MDX and takes regular vs. premium in the MDX. I am filling up every 10-14 days!

We have a Santa Fe and I really love it. BFF has the equinox, that's pretty nice too. They are both around the same price.

all ican say is that once you switch to the convertible carseat, you will have MILES more room!!! we decided to keep the matrix for longer now that we realize how much more room we have since we made the switch.

i have an explorer and it fits the carseat well but gas mileage is lacking
we need a new car and i started to look into another SUV...top of my list was the toyota highlander hybrid - heard the space is good and the gas mileage is better since its a hybrid
in the end, i think DH wants me to get a minivan which im not happy about but it seems most practical with 2 under 2.

Love my GMC Acadia with Captains seating in the 2nd row. It does have 3rd row seating, but we keep it folded down most of the time. Plenty of room. In fact, we went on a day trip one day with friends and fit 4 adults, 2 large car seats, 2 strollers, and several other bags and what not and were comfortable.

I have the volvo xc60. I love it because it is safe. I totaled my last volvo and I walked away without a scratch or ache. My passenger seat is still up further than passengers typically are comfortable with but not up all the way.
My friend just got a Subaru and said that she was able to put the car seat in the middle. My volvo recommends using one of the sides for a car seat.

I have the Honda CRV and love it. It's great on gas and has a lot of trunk space. Of all the "smaller" SUVs it is one of the biggest.

I have to say I have a Britax Convertible car seat and that thing is huge. Its way bigger than the infant seat. I have a car and it fits fine but were in the market as well for an SUV. We were looking at the Arcadia or a Tahoe. We were looking at the Jeep Grand Cherokee and it would be fine if we were only going to have dd. BUT theres no way a convertible and an infant seat fit back there with a person in the middle. I just cant see it. I know someone posted on here that they fit, but we got on long car rides to our parents summer home 2.5 hours away I couldnt imagine sitting back there with 2 car seats for 2.5 hours. The inside is the same size as a car but its a jeep. And there wasn't much trunk space. We just went to look at this like 2 weeks ago and its really not very big.

This description sounds more like the cherokee than the Grand Cherokee. The grand Cherokee is actually pretty roomy in the backseat comparatively. I've sat in the back between 2 convertable car seats with no problem. It's definitely much, much bigger than a car inside, and the trunk space is pretty big. We fit a stroller, pack and play and 2 50lb dogs back there.
Just wanted to share my experience so you're not deterred if you are interested in the Grand Cherokee.

We were between the Acadia and the JX35 - called something else now. JX has the same features as the acadia but I think Acadia has even more room than the JX. We go on 3 hour trips with 4 adults, 2 convertible Britax carseats, packnplay, dog, uppa baby, and baggage. The 3rd row is typically not up unless we go on long trips. Love the convenience and I would recommend either car!

Love my Jeep Grand cherokee. It's my third jeep and I've always love them. It takes E-85 too which helps save $$ on gas.

I agree. The Grand Cherokee is one of the only rated SUV's beside a larger SUV like a Tahoe to fit 3 carseats. The older body style- was a tighter fit, I was unable to sit in the middle, this new body style is roomier.
We just got a 2014 Grand Cherokee 3 weeks ago and are really happy with it especially for the price.

E 85 will not save you in gas because you use more gas. So you will fill up more often. If you do the math reg gas ends up being cheaper.
