Sleeping
My 3 week old daughter had been sleeping pretty well during the night in 2-3 hour sessions between feelings. About 1.5 weeks ago, that stopped and she would seem to be in pain. We finally figured out this last Monday that she has a milk allergy, which was probably why she was having tummy issues. In any case, she still is having difficulty at night. She will sleep 20-45 mins and then get fussy. I shhhhh her, rock her, feed her when she is hungry, but nothing seems to work. I have started to let her lay on me so we can both sleep (swore I'd NEVER do that). I'm concerned I'm starting a bad habit that will be hard to break, but I am so exhausted! Anyone go through this?

Re: Sleeping
My almost 5 month old wakes around 5ish to eat and will go back to sleep with some cuddling until 7-8. So I feed him and then cuddle in my bed. He falls asleep pretty quickly and then I transfer him to his own bed. I sometimes think am I starting a bad habit but he is so happy and content when he falls back asleep that I dont even care. I try not to worry about the future. Enjoy her sleeping on you it wont last forever

First off you cannot spoil a newborn and habits aren't learned until 6 months. Right now they do not understand manipulation. Do whatever you have to to comfort her.
Since she has a milk allergy what formula are you using? Or are you nursing?if it is formula sometimes changing the formula will make for a diff baby.

Re: Sleeping
Do you swaddle? That might work.
Try putting a few hand towels under her sheet where she lays her head... propping her up could help with acid reflux if she's uncomfortable.

Re: Sleeping
Thanks. I know she can't manipulate me, but I am just afraid she won't be able to eventually sleep on her own bc she will be so used to me holding her. We switched formula to Nutramigen on Monday. I put her to sleep in the rock n play since its on an incline. I've tried swaddling but she seems to hate it. I'm going to try the sleep sack.

Re: Sleeping
You can't spoil a newborn. And don't worry about setting bad habits until they are over 3 months old (and even then, I don't really worry).
DS slept on my chest for a couple of weeks. I needed sleep and it was the only way I could get him to sleep. I'd put a light blanket/sheet over him and then a boppy around him so he couldn't go anywhere. Eventually he started sleeping in the swing and then the crib with the mattress inclined. I think this helped him be more comfy.
Do whatever you have to do to get sleep.

MY DS was colicy and didn;t sleep for 4 months. I did whatever it took to get him to sleep the little bit he did.
Do not worry about it at this age.
