i dont believe there is a chart as all babies are different. but as they get older they are supposed to be able to go longer stretches without eating (they start out every 2-3 hours, then go every 3-4 hours etc.)
how old is your LO?

eta - was your LO going for longer stretches before; maybe this is just a growth spurt?

am i UNDER feeding?

My son was eating every 3 hours. We would increase the amount in each of the bottles when for the day he would drain the bottles.

I think i would try giving him a jar of food in the morning or afternoon also. This might help fill him up. Both DS & DD never went above 6 oz except the morning bottle i always gave 8 oz as they both slept all night. But every baby is different.

Similac has a chart on their website. It's broken down by age, how many feedings they take in a 24 hour period and how many ounces each bottle is. It's always been dead on for us.

Dd is 5 months and she gets 4-5 bottles a day ranging from 7-8 oz.

And her feedings during the day are 4 hours apart.

Every baby is different. I'd try bumping up to 2 meals a day and/or 8 oz bottles.

ETA: Just saw your other post. I'd try bumping all bottles up to 8 oz and see how she does. My guess is she isn't getting full from the 6oz bottles.

Wow good eater. Try adding an ounce or cereal after am bottle.

My DD will be 6 m next week & only takes 3.5-4 oz each feeding every 2-2.5 hrs (BM). she also gets cereal after am & dinner time bottle. Fruit & veggie too.

I pretty much feel like I've been underfeeding since day 1. DD is definitely an eater and based on what some of you are giving, I should bump up her ozs.

Does anyone know if the Similac feeding chart can be used for gauging breastfeeding too?

I think so. Lately I've been giving DS 5 bottles a day, between 5.5-6.5 ounces each (breastmilk). I'm pretty sure that's about the amount it suggests for 4 months.

Ok, thanks. How long do you go between feedings? DD is almost 4 1/2 mos and will still eat every 2-3 hours. She is comfort nursing a lot and she is sucking me dry. I'm not even sure I'm producing enough for her at this point. Not sure if it's a growth spurt or what.

Thank you for posting this chart. I've been wondering how much to feed DS too. Even though he's my third, I forget, and he seems to be eating more than my DDs ever did.

I would not go by a chart. Each baby is different. If they finish bottle in a decent amount of time offer a bit more. If they take it they were hungry.

That chart is a huge generalization.

He usually has his first bottle of the day around 7 am, then every 3-3.5 hours throughout the day until his last bottle around 10 pm. (That's in general but lots of variation because he doesn't go to sleep or wake up at the same time every day) Sometimes he'll have 6 bottles in a day, and some days he seems hungry every 2 hours. I guess growth spurt like you said! But I can't always tell if he's upset because he's hungry or if something else is bothering him.

Thanks. We are not really on any type of eating and sleeping schedule/routine. I try to be laid back and take my cues from her, but sometimes I feel like we are all over the place and wonder if I'm doing anything right.
