Moms who pump and leave milk for their DCs...
Can you share how many bottles and how much you leave per bottle, how many hours you are away from your DC, and what feeding schedule your caregiver follows?

I leave for work around 7:45 and get home around 5:40.
I send 3 bottles for DS - they were about 3/4/4 oz each but now it's closer to 4.5/5/5. I also send in an empty bottle and usually some small vials with 1-2 oz in each in case he gets a little hungrier. I don't like to make the bottles too big b/c they basically told me they need to throw away any unused milk after a feeding. And that is just tooo sad for me.
I think the general schedule is bottle around 8:30-9 (I try to nurse him before I leave the house, but sometimes he just won't eat much.) Then another around 11-11:30 and the last around 2:30. But it depends a lot on him I think. And he often gets the 1-2 oz extra around 4-4:30. I asked them to TRY not to feed him too close to 5:00 since I want to nurse him when I get home but if he's hungry, he gets mad.
Oh, and DS is 4 months. He was getting the smaller bottles till a couple of weeks ago.

I would set up all the bottles in the morning with whatever amount of ounces she was drinking at the time and label each bottle with the time she was to be fed.
It was my MIL who was watching her, so she followed the schedule I gave her. I also had her write down in a notebook how much she drank and at what time, the # wet & poop diapers and how long she napped.
It is so overwhelming at the beginning, not to mention heart wrenching leaving your LO. But once you get into a routine, it will be easier.

The issue is when I'm home I nurse so I have no idea how much he is eating! We're on day 2 so I'm just relying on MIL (also the one watching him) to give me feedback about how he does with the amounts I'm leaving.

There's a calculator on Kelly mom that can help you to figure it out. But As a general rule, they say breastfeeding babies don't take more than 4 oz at a time. I used to leave 4 oz for every 3 hours I was gone.
Just leave what you pump. If he needs more, he'll nurse more when your home.

I think I used Kellymom as well. I left him with (4) 4oz bottles for being away from 7:00-6:45. He would finish those bottles and even sometimes leave extra in the last one. So i started donig just 3oz in the last bottle so nothing went to waste.

DD is 4 mos and she drinks 6 oz bottles. She should take one every 3 hrs, but sometimes she only goes 2-2.5 hrs btwn feedings. My mom watches her and I think when DD gets fussy my mom just feeds her.

Wow..6oz @ 4 mnths? Wish my DD did that.she only took 3 oz at a time & ate every 1.5 hrs on the nose. Now at 5 mnths she is up to 3.5-4oz every 2-2.5 hrs.

My DD never took more than 5oz and that was only for about two months between 5-6mo. At the beginning and for the last few months again, she gets three 4oz bottles at approx 830am, 130pm and 430pm (she's at daycare from approx 815am-530pm). Now at almost a year, she rarely finishes all 3 bottles, but that's because she eats a crazy amount of food.
