Starting stage 2 foods

DS quickly went through all the stage one foods, loved them and had no allergic reactions. I've been looking at the stage 2 foods now. To avoid any allergies I'm supposed to pick one where there is only one new food right? What if there are two new foods? FOr example one DH picked up has tomato and beef, he hasn't had either. Is that not a good one to try?

Also when to start dairy? He's 6 months old

i went according to my pediatrician, although i know others are more laid back about things...

but here is what they said...
you are correct about only starting one new food at a time. so perhaps try the beef first then the beef and tomato.

in terms of dairy, she said to wait until closer to 1 year

I tried stage 2 with 2 new foods. If there is a reaction its one of two things and you would be able to narrow it down quickly. Also the foods that are used are not foods that highly allergic for the general population.

As for dairy. I gave yogurt early. IMO do what feels right to you. the only dairy I waited for was milk.

I didn't really follow the 3 day rule/1 food at a time after DS got through his stage 1 foods.

We also started giving dairy (ie: yogurt) around 6 months. Ped said it was fine and DS LOVED it.

I'm probably a bit conservative. For the stage 2 with blends, I tried to make sure DD had at least one of the blends before. Last night at almost 8 months was the first time I did a stage 2 with a blend she's never eaten before - hoping for the best. But as PP said, it would be easy to know if she had a reaction as it would be to one of the 2. I haven't started yogurt yet -- was going to ask my Pediatrician when I should be doing that. I'm sure I can now, but haven't yet. We just started meats last week.

We just started yogurt 2x a week per dr. She is eh about it. I make my own food but I would try and give the blend that your Lo has already had all the ingredients. Jmo.
