Pregnant ladies- read this
I love lurking here. I probably will not be able to have kids so I like to see so many ladies who are. It's beautiful and I wish you all so much happiness.
I'm going to give you one piece of advice. The caveat is that since I a, not a crazy hormonal pregnant lady I know I can't relate 100%. But ill give it a shot.
Don't listen to anyone when they say somethig stupid.
Your second kid,s name DOESeNT go with the first?
The name you picked is bad?
Your gonna breast feed?
Your gonna bottle feed?
You like blue for a girl?
You'll be a SAHM?
You'll be a FTWM?
If anyone says anything, SHUT THEM DOWN. you have enough stress in your life to stress over bull shizz that comes out of OTHER people's mouths.
Enjoy your 9 month (and beyond) and don't bother with anyone else's stupid opinions.
Nicolas is a beautiful name. You like it go for it and don't think twice Bout your crazy azz aunt ,;

As someone who was pregnant I will add to the list
Are you having twins? Are you sure?
Wow, you look.big
Was it planned?
You look exhausted
And then when you have the baby.... Your baby looks big Your baby looks small You look exhausted When are you due? (Happened when we had our furniture delivered for the nursery 3 days after baby was born)

A-friggin-Men.
You have to look at them like you're really concerned for them and say, very patronizingly, "You know, things like that sound pretty bad (rude) aloud and probably shouldn't be said to a pregnant woman."
Then smile and shrug and remain silent while they wait for you to laugh and tell them it's ok--and eventually, they get uncomfortable...but don't let them off the hook.
If they wanted to make you look/feel foolish, you've just turned the tables. In front of the same co-workers, friends, or family they tried to shame/critique/evaluate you in front of.

Here's what happened with a woman I worked with. A very very sweet woman but def said things that she shouldn't have. Keep in mind this is all the same woman
Her. Are you having twins Me. No Her. Are you sure you're not having twins. No chance? Me. Yes
The very next day Her. When is your due date again Me. June Her. Are you sure that's your due date. Maybe you will go early. Me. Yes I'm sure but thank you for making me feel huge Her. Silence
And never again was a comment made from her

my Aunt took the cake with, "was it planned?, what did your mom say?"
Ummm...i am a 29 year old MARRIED mother OF 2. Who cares what my mom says and it is none of your damn business if baby 3 was planned or not.

I used to love this one:
"Oh you are pregnant- that's wonderful news! Is your husband excited?"
"no he's devastated"
"No he's very upset, but my boyfriend who is the baby daddy is THRILLED!"

I also had another coworker tell me I looked big that day. I said so do you. Told my friend the story and she asked if the woman was also pregnant. I said no.

Pregnant ladies- read this
Over thanksgiving I got, OMG your boobs are gigantic! They're HUGE! Collossal! They're going to be bigger than your head! (My drunk cousin). She asked me not to talk about my pregnancy because her friend who was visiting had a late miscarriage. Of course I obliged. Later that night, we were chatting and the friend asked me how far along I am. I said 18 weeks. Her friend then decided she'd like to tell me about her stillbirth at 19 weeks. In great detail. My cousin tried to tell me that the friend had had several miscarriages before, and that I shouldn't worry. The friend then says, "nope, I didn't. Baby was perfectly fine one day and dead the next." I didn't even know how to reply. But if she's there for Christmas, I'm outta there!
That's the second time that has happened. When I was 8 weeks, my friend revealed that years ago, she miscarried at 9 weeks, but she was SURE I didn't have anything to worry about.

I can't stand the "are you going to breast feed question. I got my mother in law rolling her eyes at me saying "good luck", my mom telling me I'm going to hate it and it's horrible (thanks for the encouragement), and my male coworker snickering because someone said breast (grow up!).
I haven't said a word on Facebook because I cannot stand people thinking they are an expert because they were once pregnant. Every pregnancy is different.
I saw a onesie on Pinterest that said "my mom doesn't want your advice" I'll have to track it down and buy it!

It only gets worse once the baby is here. EVERY single time I see 2 specific people who shall remain nameless and are from the older generation tell me what to do. And it is wronggggggg. Umm, you had your baby 25 years ago. Things have changed.

Re: Pregnant ladies- read this
we had our work holiday party yesterday so a group photo was taken and my friend/co-worker said I look "really pregnant"
my hormones are raging lately and my inner mean girl wanted to come out so I wanted to fire back that even though she had lap-band surgery to lose weight a year ago she still looks pretty big but had to bite my tongue.
why do people think comments like that are cool especially when we are so hormonal?

I have two kids and I have to say that I don't think it's wrong or derogatory to say "wow you look so pregnant" type comments. It's meant well. It's not calling you fat, it's saying look how your pregnancy is progressing. I think for the couple of you who were inclined to call the person fat back, you're being too sensitive. Things like " are you sure there aren't two in there?" is different, bc it's implying you're enormous beyond normal pregnancy. Omg look how big your belly is getting, is sweet imo.

I'm pretty sure that was directed towards me and the person didn't say I looked very pregnant. She said I looked big. And I was also asked if I was having twins and if I was sure when my due date was. So yes, I felt my responses and feelings were justified.
