If your LO was on special formula did that alter when you started solids? When you did start how old? Did you see a decline in LOs habbits? Not sleeping or getting more gas upset tummy etc?

My dd is on alimentum... what do you mean alter? When you start solids you wont be starting with dairy. It will either be cereal or veggies.

I did not see any effect on sleep in general.

But its always recommended to start food and new foods in the am so if there is any reaction (digestive or bowel change) it will happen during the day and not at night.

Re: Nutramigen/allementum and solids

I had one on alimentum and one not and I had them on the sane food schedule. I didn't notice any change. Their sleep/ fussiness level fluctuated a lot but I don't thing it was food related.

DS is on Nutramigen and started solids when he was ready - just before 5 months old. The formula he's on had no effect on when or how we started solids.

Food didn't cause him to be more upset or his stomach to hurt. In fact, it made him happier b/c he loves food!

i feel like LO is ready to eat and capable, but the tummy wont support it... does that make sense?

How old is your LO?
I tried with my dd at 5 months but she was doing better with it at 6 months. She actually didn't do well initially with sweet potatoes. She did GREAT with Squash. AND I also made it myself and REALLY watered it down because it made it easier to digest for her.

Follow your babies ques 100% you don't HAVE to give your LO solids too early its not necessary. All it really is at this age is practice it has NOTHING to do with nutrition BUT it does help to give them nutritious food.
I started my dd on orange veggies. Like I mentioned she did great with squash. she didn't like the taste the carrots. and she didn't digest sweet potatoes well. From there I went to fruit. And for the first 2-3 months I watered it down and then slowly put less and less water.

Re: Nutramigen/allementum and solids

because of what I went through with dd's tummy issues, it made me very wary of starting foods.
I tried at 4 months but in hindsight, I don't think she was really ready until 6 months.
table food, she didn't have any interest in until at least 10 months.
and now she is almost 13 months old and even though we have gotten the go ahead to wean to milk, I haven't begun yet

DS was on Nutramigen and we ended up starting solids closer to 6 months. He did fine with them.

Why do you think that?

My daughter has been on Alimentum pretty much since day one, but it hasn't affected her eating solids at all. I just stay away from any jar foods that contain milk, as we'll as the baby yogurt. Other than that she's able to eat everything else.

I never noticed anything different as far as her sleeping habits. She eventually starting going to bed earlier, but I think that had to do with her getting a little older.
