Re: switching to almond milk
yes, same as regular milk. But if she is already weaned, I would just try giving almond milk, no weaning. See if she takes it. My son did.

Re: switching to almond milk
Can I ask a silly question on this? Is there a concern about nut allergies when giving almond milk? I know with peanuts etc they tell you to wait or to give a tiny amount to see if they react. Is it the same with almond milk?

Thats def a valid question nervousnell... but she tested negative for all allergies and shes had peanut butter before so i think she will be ok but im def gonna watch for allergies... i didnt even think of that... thanks!
Shes actually is not weaned i started to with reg milk but she started getting diarrhea (shes always had a hard time digesting dairy which is why she is on alimentum) so my peds had me stop weaning she was only on maybe 6-9 oz of milk a day plus yogurt snd cheese and couldnt digest. So he said either try alternatives or wait 1 month and try again. Alimentum is killinh me money wise ans i want her off of it already. Shes 17 months.

I would think you could do it however you want. DD was ebf so when I started her on almond milk and also when I later switched to soy, I always gave it straight. She was still mostly nursing and wasn't used to anything other than water from a sippy so she didn't take much at first but over time she started drinking more. We also had the allergy testing done and they specifically included almonds, soy, and coconut so I would know what i could give her.

Re: switching to almond milk
Dd is still on neocate formula for dairy allergy but I give her almond milk or coconut milk with her cereal and in her sippy cup. I also give her almond or coconut yogurt.
It may be nice to start with these slow introductions and look out for allergies (almond and peanut are not related) and then ease into the bottle.
