Would you reschedule a reshoot in this situation?
We had a photo shoot a few weeks ago. We were supposed to get 15 images. All I wanted was one good pic for our Christmas cards. The background and our clothing look perfect but there is not one family picture where we are all looking into the camera. It was a chilly day and the kids were grouchy that they had to wear "fancy" clothes. The photographer did not rush us but we had a very short shoot because it was freezing.
I am actually not happy with most of the shots. There is just one picture of the boys running down a hill that looks good. Whenever we did a photo shoot previously, I have a hard time picking out my favorites. In this shoot, we only got 15 and I could not even pick. I am assuming there was not enough pictures for her to give us choices.
Most of the pictures have one or both kids with a grumpy face or looking the other direction.
Would you try to reschedule?
I know there are a few photographers on LIF. What do you do in a situation where the kids are not cooperating?

It cant hurt to ask but are you asking for her to do this for free? Im not so sure that any photog would do another shoot for free because the kids were cold or grouchy :/ i mean she provided a service and did do what she was contracted to do.
If your willing to pay maybe ask about a discount.
What about doing them in studio?

If I had to pay again (even at a discount), I would rather pick someone else.
I actually know a few amateur mom photographers and their work is great. I booked this shoot a while back.

What about asking if the photographer can edit the pics to swap out faces, like swap a grumpy face from one with a smile from another. That way it wouldnt require a reshoot.

I was just thinking the pictures would be great if we could edit faces.
The backdrop and outfits are perfect. We are perfectly placed in the frames. Just the faces are all off. DH is the only one who looks good in every picture.

I worked in a photo studio many years ago & people would set up a reshoot if they were unhappy with their kids expression or if they didn't cooperate. I don't see why the photographer wouldn't do the shoot over if her client was unhappy.

Re: Would you reschedule a reshoot in this situation?
I would definitely ask for a reshoot and/or tell her how unhappy you are with the pictures. I had a similar experience with one of the photographers in here and when I expressed that we did not get what we were there for she totally agreed and did the re-shoot for free. We got the pictures from both and in the end I was happy with our family shot. It can't hurt anything to ask.

My husband owns a photography company, and that is what he does for family shoots, especially if the family specifically requests a shot where everyone is looking/smiling. Some people want more candid shots, but when its for a card, etc, he will do a composite.
I would ask her if she can do that.
