What should I do with this toy?

My DD's 1st birthday was in early August. Today, she received a belated gift in the mail. It was the FP's little people happy sounds home. It is like a little dollhouse. I am debating whether I should return it or just keep it. Here is my dilemma-reasoning: I got her the FP laugh and learn home for the holidays and I feel like they are similar except one is sort of life-size and the other is toy sized... We have a small 1 bedroom apartment and we try to limit the amount of "stuff" we have, including toys. We like toys that can serve multiple purposes and she can use for a long time. Things that will keep her interest. My husband doesn't really like the little people toys and I'm not too sold on them either. and last, we asked for a small little mermaid little people set from the in-laws, which they probably already got her, so then it'll be a lot of little people stuff which we are already not that into. However, I usually don't return anything, so it still feels a little weird to do so. She might enjoy it. Or we'll open it- she won't enjoy it and it becomes a space/$ waster. What would you do?

Since you have similar toys for her and space is an issue, I would return it.

I dont know what you should do, but Id like to add my experience with both toys. We have both and they aren't the same at all. The Little People Home comes with mom, dad, and baby. It's like a first doll house and my DD is 2 1/2 (got it last Chriatmas) and still plays with it...but we love all things little people.

The laugh and learn home is fun, and my Dd will still sometimes play with it, she likes to pretend she's coming over my house and I sit "inside" and she sits "outside" and rings the bell, etc. She played with it more when she was younger.

She likes both but they are different types of play. The little House also closes and all the accessories can be stored inside.

Sounds like you don't want to keep it, so return it.

My DD has a little house like this one & plays with it daily. We will get her a princess castle for the holidays. She loves this, arts and crafts & her baby doll.

I think it is a very different toy than the laugh and learn home (I don't own that one because it is very big)...

But, as a poster said, you can always return it!
