There is a great spot in Sayville if you like old looking farm buildings.
Islip Grange

We took my son's 9 month photos there.

Bayard, Gardiner Park & Islip Grange both very popular spots and as long as your not using props are okay for you to use the grounds. I mean a chair/crate is okay but nothing crazy. Farmingdale requires a permit to shoot in unless you get prior consent.

Bayard. They also decorate the inside of the mansion beautifully for the holidays.

Oh wow, I had no idea. We didn't get one for Farmingdale, I guess we got lucky no one said anything.

So glad this was posted today! The weather is gorgeous and I had a half hour to spare so I threw DD in a dress and got some cute shots at the grange. I never would have thought to try there.

Grange is having a rumor of requiring prior consent/permit next year. I know a few other places now require it because of incidents with photographers setting up sets and taking over the place. It's a shame.

That is a shame. There is so much to work with there that you don't need sets ! My photographer just has some very small props (small suitcase, picnic basket) nothing major.

This! Beautiful trails, bridges, buildings, and a river as backdrops.

Bayard used to be very strict with the permit but have relaxed a bit as long as your not using props or setting up anything. Just walk in, shoot and leave type deal. If you're a wedding is when it's def. required. Also interiors aren't allowed to be photographed with a permit but sometimes they let you get away with it.

Avalon Park in Stony a Brook is beautiful. We've done pictures there twice and the scenery is perfect.

I've done pictures here a few times. But one family at a time and no props, I never had a problem.
