What is your bedtime routine?

Curious to know what you bedtime routine is if it doesn't include a bath. I think ours is too short but I don't want to give DS a bath before bed because he has so much fun and then gets upset when we take him out. I am going to have to bite the bullet and change our bedtime/night routine because I have created a habit of DS needing to nurse to sleep at night and a million times in the middle of the night (thankfully he goes to sleep on his own for naps) so I figured a better and consistent bedtime routine might help also.

We do baths every other night. It's the same both nights except on non bath nights, she play longer!

-Play from after dinner until about 7:40
-Change into pj's/ warm washcloth to clean face, neck, hands, feet
-Sing songs while changing or recap our day
-bottle
-2 or 3 books w/pacifier and blankie
-kisses goodnight
-put her into bed still awake, usually about 8:10

-she usually goes to sleep right away but sometimes she will cry for a minute or two

Re: What is your bedtime routine?

I replaced nursing to sleep in the glider with reading books together in my bed. Sitting in the glider made her want to nurse. She was also 25 months when I started the bedtime weaning (the last BF season we still had). So we read 3 books, turn off the light, say our prayers, and then I sing to her. If she falls asleep during this then we move her to her crib. Otherwise, after the song, I carry her to he crib awake and tuck her in. Sometimes this goes smoothly and sometimes she's cries, but not for long.

I never wanted her to sleep in my bed, but I needed to change the scenery to stop the nursing routine. In a few months we plan to transition to a toddler bed, and then I will do our routine in her room and no more mommy and daddy's bed. She's excited about the idea of a big girl bed, so I'm hoping this goes smoothly.

Before I weaned DD, we would read books (always ending with the same one), then DH would change her into pjs and a sleepsack, then I would nurse her on the couch. Sometimes she would fall asleep, sometimes not. If she was awake DH and I would sing to her in her room and then I'd put her down with her musical seahorse and she'd usually be out pretty quickly.

She was weaned at 16 months. Her new routine is to get into pjs and her sleepsack, then DH and I read to her on the floor in her room while she drinks her milk. We brush her teeth and sing to her and put her down with her little elmo doll. We had to let her CIO the first few nights but since then she's sttn pretty much every night and never cries at bedtime at all.

Re: What is your bedtime routine?

Bath every other night

Wash cloth for face, hands, feet etc.
Change into pj's
Use the potty
Take our vitamins
Brush teeth
Pick out books to read in bed - we read a lot of books at night (about 6-8)
Have milk in bed while reading books
lights out

We start about 7:15-7:30 - he is usually passed out by 8:00
