My kids are not the center of my world

This is NOT meant to cause an argument so please do not start one but i thought the above could spark a real conversation. There are very strong opinions in that article and i have my feelings on it and would like to hear what others feel.

Again i respect that not everyone sees the world the same way and hope you all do too so i believe we can keep this nice and a healthy chat

I read this earlier today. For ME, I agree with this. I love my boys with every ounce of my being. But I am not just their mother. I am a wife, a daughter, a sister, a friend. I am still ME. And like the article said, my boys are special to me & my DH, and to our family and friends. But in the grand scheme of life, they are not special to everyone. They need to learn that the sun does not rise & set on them. My job, and that of my DH, is to raise productive members of society who can deal with life. And life is anything but fair.

I want my kids to know that things arent handed to them. They will not be good at everything but thats ok. They dont need a participation award, being involved should be enough. If my kid wants to play a sport i will support it. Howver it will be done right with responsibility. You will practice and try hard and follow through with your commitment. If your #1 or #10 i will be supporting a proud just the same.

I want my kids to play in the streets and build forts and have slumber parties at my house. I dont think they have to be friends with everyone and invite everyone but they have to be nice and respectful.

I dont know, just my thoughts.
