Why don't doctors see you earlier?
If the first trimester is so crucial for development why won't most doctors see you until 8 weeks or so? Even if just to go over dos and donts?
Although I have been researching, some of the things they say not to do I would never know! I really didn't know you weren't supposed to take hot baths, and it seems like it can be awful for the baby's development. But really, how are you supposed to know all these things?!

Why don't doctors see you earlier?
Because there really isn't much to see before that time. And I take hot baths all the time. Not scalding like a hot tub but not tepid either. Nearly 22 weeks and everything is perfect so far. Most of the stuff you're not supposed to do or eat or drink is common knowledge. It'll be 8 weeks before you know it!

I am pretty sure it is mainly because:
1. it can be difficult to see anything (and people's dating can be off)
2. if anything were to happen with the baby, there isn't much they can do for you since it is so early.

Why don't doctors see you earlier?
I don't know but my office see you as soon as you call tell them you got a positive pregnancy test they didn't even ask me when my last period was. For this pregnancy I was only 4 weeks along when they saw me though I tonight I was 5 weeks along

Why don't doctors see you earlier?
Early in pregnancy the risk of loss is highest therefore many doctors will wait until eight weeks or two missed periods before they will see patients. Early in pregnancy the mother and baby do not share a blood supply so there is little risk of adverse effects from medications or food a women may take during this time.

Why don't doctors see you earlier?
My dr wouldn't see me until 8 weeks but they let me come in to pick up an informational packet on what you should and shouldn't eat and get some prenatal vitamin samples.

Why don't doctors see you earlier?
I guess it was more of an anxious vent. I think I am going to call my doctor tomorrow lol. I realize a lot of things are common sense, but I want to make sure I'm doing the best for my baby's development. There's a lot of information (some of which contradicts itself) when you go on google, so I'd rather at least get done guidance before 8 weeks from my doctor :)

It's totally understandable and we've all been there. Just take your vitamins, try not to stress, and find a distraction b/c it's a worse wait than the 2ww lol. Those are probably the best things you can do to help development.

I totally agree with you! It was horrible and I had to wait almost 9 1/2 weeks :( I came on here and complained so many times lol but it's defi. Worth it when you get to see your miracle

This exactly. Just be smart about the decisions you're making and I'm sure everything will be fine!
