So confused
4 iui's-great response to low dose clomid 3 pregnancies -1 chemical and 2 miscarriages at 9 weeks each. So RE told me I should do PGD testing ($5000) with IVF assuming the loses were bc of abnormal chromosome issues. Get results from my D&c today... Normal female!!! Wth is going on????? I am at a loss as to what my issue is.
Going for a second opinion tomorrow with San Roman.

I would look into the immune testing BEFORE spending the $$$$$$$$ on IVF.

Re: So confused
I'm so sorry that makes me so sad bc I was rooting for you when you got your BFP. I agree with the immune testing. If loss panel testing checked out, I would aim for immune panel and hysteroscopy to see if there's anything causing the body to reject. I feel for you, having these losses are devastating. Hang in there!

Re: So confused
I know exactly how you feel. I had 3 losses (11.5 weeks, 7.5 weeks, and a chemical). All loss testing came back normal. My RE also doesn't do any immune testing. I just met with him last week and he said my options are: 1. Do the same thing we' ve been doing (clomid/iui) and hope all the losses were flukes 2. Do IVF with PGD to select chromosomally excellent ones and hope there's no other underlying issues that were not detected 3. Go to someone else b/c we don't believe in immune issues here.
I think I'm going to bite the expensive bullet and see Dr. B in the new year. It also really annoyed me that the clomid/iui cost went up $700/month cash price since my last cycle. Talk about an increase!! We were planning on doing one more clomid/iui cycle with current practice, but AF doesn't seem to be coming now, and if she doesn't come by tomorrow I won't be able to start due to travel for work in 2 weeks. Nothing is easy!!
ETA: both my D&Cs came back genetically normal females too (and I didn't want to know the sex... so much for that) and mine and DHs karyotypes are normal and my genetic study was normal, so i'm not really sure how PGD will help except deplete my wallet.

So sorry for your losses :(. That is an insane increase for an iui!!!! All of this is so difficult and frustrating. I have had all the genetic tests done and I am clear. Never had a water sono so that's their plan next but if that comes up normal...what do we do? Last week I was all for the PGD but now I feel like I will spend all that $$$ for nothing. I could get pregnant and chromosomes will be good... Just to lose another baby :(

So sorry for your losses. I did PGD and still got a bfn. Then we went for immunological testing and got a new protocal and then came the BFP. Check out Kofinas.

Re: So confused
I'm sorry you have experienced loss and are going down this road of the unknown. Miscarriages aren't "flukes" or bad luck or any ofthat. Even one miscarriage, although common, is one too many. There is a reason. PGD isn't always necessary. I've had three miscarriages and three chemicals and never had PGD on my embryos even with one loss due to Trisomy. If all genetic and chromosomal markers are normal, why do it? It's also a very risky procedure and shouldn't be taken lightly. You can still miscarry healthy embryos if there's other issues going on, like immune.
HTH. Feel free to FM me if you have any any questions about immune stuff.

Crashing but which Kofinas are you seeing? Brooklyn or the perinatal Kofinas in garden city?

Re: So confused
I'm sorry you had to go through that I've had 6 losses, so I know how heartbreaking and maddening it can be.
But keep in mind as your search for answers that the result of "normal female" is sometimes really inconclusive because it's possible that what they tested was actually your tissue and not the baby's. It happens, especially with early losses where there is not a large amount of clear pregnancy tissue to work with.
Hang in there!

I'm doing immune testing with Kofinas now and Liivf wants me to keep in touch with them and I can go back when I'm ready for monitoring. Dr Kreiner told me he can work with what Kofinas thinks I need. So that gave me a good feeling as I was worried once I asked for my records that'd say bye bye. But when people go for a second opinion, that doesn't mean they are leaving their current doctor.

First off I'm so sorry for your losses
I feel your pain I have 3 losses this year alone. Recurrent panel normal. I have to get more in depth testing done like NK cells etc but I do agree with the PP that I don't know if I would shell out the $$ for PGD. That was what we were advised to do if everything came back normal but honestly IMO if genetic testing is normal I don't see a need.
I too think Immunue issues somewhere underlying. Have you gone to your PCP? I went to mine and she ran some of the blood work like ANA, Thyroid, etc. Good luck

San roman said he thought IVF was a little aggressive since my problem isn't getting pregnant its holding the baby. Said he would recommend being more aggressive with the clomid and up the dosage so I would have more eggs. Said first and for most I have to have the saline sono before we go further. However, he thinks it will come back normal bc he looked my X-rays from the tube test and they were clear.
We also met with the PGD expert, he also said we should continue with iui for now. Of course if money was not a prob then he would do the testing but at this point protocol is for iui since the pathology report came back normal female.
Thinking of taking the month off to regroup then....try try try again!!!!!

I had the ANA, thyroid and the rest of the recurrent loss panel and everything was clear. So frustrating not to have an answer.
