Does anyone have an anterior placenta?

So at my OB appt yesterday I was told my placenta is anterior. I know that it means it may take longer to feel kicks or movement, even though I have felt them and feel them now at 19w, and it may be harder to hear the hb since what I may hear is the placenta and not the baby.

Any other concerns I should be aware of?

Re: Does anyone have an anterior placenta?

I had one with DS, there are really no concerns as far as I know... I didn't feel my DS until I was maybe 25 weeks though.

Re: Does anyone have an anterior placenta?

I had an anterior placenta with my DS and was told that I wouldn't be able to feel him as well. I don't have anything to compare it with since I'm only 12 weeks along now and haven't started feeling the baby yet, but I have to say I felt him just fine and my DH was able to feel him as well. I had the bulges coming out of the stomach and I could see his little hiccups clearly. I also started feeling him around 19 weeks and this is when DH was able to feel him as well. I can let you know in about 2-3 months if this pregnancy (with a posterior placenta) is any different...

Re: Does anyone have an anterior placenta?

I had one with DD and it took a while to feel her move and couldn't always feel her. i actually felt her have hiccups more than the moving around stuff.

Re: Does anyone have an anterior placenta?

I had one with DD and it sucked. Didn't feel her until about 22 weeks and not a ton after that. You're going to have some days with little to no movement and freak out, but don't worry, it's normal.

What also bothered me was when people asked me "You feel her moving a lot, right?" Sometimes I would explain about anterior placentas and sometimes I would lie and say yes.Chat Icon

Re: Does anyone have an anterior placenta?

I had it.
It just meant I barely felt any movement.
Like ever.
But I had never been pregnant before so I really didn't know what I was missing.
I didn't mind.
My Dr told me that other than that, there was nothing to be concerned about- it didn't cause any issues in the pregnancy or delivery.

I have one. I started feeing her at about 22 weeks. Now at 39 I can say it's been a roller coaster ride some days tons of movement other days not much. I've had many NST due to this and she's always fine.

Re: Does anyone have an anterior placenta?

I had one and never had any issues. I felt flutters early on and SAW and felt actual movement around 22wks right up till the end. I have videos where you could see him moving around..... I don't have anything to compare it to, but in my opinion I felt him A TON and can't imagine feeling him more if I did not have an anterior placenta.

I do. I feel like I didn't feel the baby very much at first. And if I felt it, DH couldn't. It was weird. Now that I'm in the 3rd tri and the baby is bigger I do feel him/her a lot more. I didn't have anterior placenta with DD1 and do remember a lot visible movement at this point.

Does anyone have an anterior placenta?

I do....this is my second with my first DS I didn't have one. It is definitely different and sucks. Took longer to feel movement and I feel much less than with DS. I still feel movement but its not as strong and as often.

Re: Does anyone have an anterior placenta?

I have it and I felt movement early, like 18 weeks, but my DH doesn't get to feel it much. He has felt maybe two kicks, but its not as much as I can feel. I hope when the baby gets bigger he can feel it more!

Re: Does anyone have an anterior placenta?

I have it too. I started really feeling her around 24 weeks and only have felt her kick from the outside a couple of times. I agree with everyone else, some days I feel her more then others. It's annoying but at least theres nothing wrong.

Re: Does anyone have an anterior placenta?

I had one with ds, no concerns other than the kicks werent that strong. I didn't realize until I was pregnant with number 2 and i didn't have an anterior placenta and started feeling the kicks a lot more prominent! They're sooooo much stronger!!
