Car seat recommendations: 3 under 3
We have a Toyota Highlander. DH and I aren't sure if 3 car seats will work in the back. Does anyone have recommendations of narrow car seats? DS will be 2 when the twins arrive.
We have a third row that folds down, but is that even safe for car seats?
Thanks!!

Re: Car seat recommendations: 3 under 3
I have a Prius and fit 3 across. My 3 yr old is in a Diono radiant rx120. It had awesome reviews and was the narrowest convertible carseat I could find. It is $$ but he will never need another seat. We are getting ds#2 one when he is out of the infant carrier and my 5 year old is in a graco turbo booster.

I have an explorer and although space-wise I can fit 3 across, there isn't a latch system in the middle seat... car seat chris has an account if you want to ask his input

You cannot fit 3 seats across in a Highlander easily. It requires a few tricks if it will work at all. The Dinono Radian will NOT work in the Highlander.
Please FM me so we can go over the options that work.

Im being serious when asking this question not trying to be rude I just dont know who you are .. But what makes you qualified to give all this advice on carseats? Is this a field you work in? Just curious because I have some questions as well and would like your input but first need to know who you are. Thanks.

You are not being rude in the least. I have been answering questions here for so long, I sometimes forget there are new parents every day. While many of the answers you may get on this site are from parents who are giving their personal experiences or feelings, when I answer questions they are based on the latest recommendations for safety and the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics, National Highway Safety Administration, Safe Kids, and knowledge of the cars and seats that are on the market.
I am beginning my 17th year as child passenger safety seat technician and supervise and mange the car seat fitting stations run by Nassau County. In that time I personally have installed and inspected over 16,000 seats as well as currently see more than 25 families a week in addition to special events hosted throughout Nassau County and the home visits I make (free of charge). I speak at parents groups and mothers groups around the county as well as have written articles on the subject. I have been on all the major television news programs and have been a guest on several morning TV shows several years ago. This past year I have been on News 12 and Channel 11 talking about car seats.
Many parents on this site know who I am and have used my fitting station or myself to help install their seats. I have been doing this longer than anyone else (with the exception of Suffolk Safe Kids) as the Nassau County Fitting Station was the first on Long Island.
I am Christopher Mistron, Director of Nassau County Traffic Safety. And although I became Director, I still do the seats as a service.

Did not say it would not work - said it is not easy and requires a few tricks and understanding the car to make things work.
One other problem that has to be considered is having a toddler next to an infant - in this case two infants. If food is given to the 2 year old you must be concerned that he does not share with the infants. That goes for toys and other choking hazards.
